I've been having a couple of curious questions, maybe someone here can tell me from their experience what's up

1. I have seen some people have said they walk in for the biometrics apppointment... I want to know what are the advantages of this and do any of you recomend that we should do this.

2. After taking the biometrics... what next? we get the AP and EAD; Do I have to wait til I have the EAD in my hand to go and ask for a SSN and a CA ID/DL?

3.What kind of proof will I need to bring with me to the interview? I mean, I know we have to have proof of us being married and stuff, but since I dont have a ssn I cant be yet added to his account in the bank or rent lease (because they ask for a credit check, which, we all know I dont have a credit history) will they give us a certain amout of time to get me added into that kind of stuff?

4. If I had a DL in my home country (expired now) would it be easier to get a DL here or do I have to do all the process ie: learner's permit, my something something hrs behind wheel with a person who has a CA DL, driving test, 20/20 eye sight etc..

5. If I want to attend school, am I allowed to ask for financial aid, loans or grants?

and the extra question...

6.

Once I get a ssn and all the other good stuff How do i begin a credit history or have a credit?

I just want to Thank everyone who took or will take their precious time to read and answer or just read my post...

1. I have seen some people have said they walk in for the biometrics apppointment... I want to know what are the advantages of this and do any of you recomend that we should do this. No real advantage other than if you're unable to attend the original appointment but can attend on an earlier day.

2. After taking the biometrics... what next? we get the AP and EAD; Do I have to wait til I have the EAD in my hand to go and ask for a SSN and a CA ID/DL? Depends on what you're adjusting from - for the most part, you'll need the EAD at least to get either - every state is different in regards to driver's licenses.

Again - depends on what status you're adjusting from. See the appropriate Guide for your particular situation.

4. If I had a DL in my home country (expired now) would it be easier to get a DL here or do I have to do all the process ie: learner's permit, my something something hrs behind wheel with a person who has a CA DL, driving test, 20/20 eye sight etc..

Not really easier - may not (check your state's requirements) have to get a learner's permit, but may have to take either the Written or Driving portion of the tests (or both).

5. If I want to attend school, am I allowed to ask for financial aid, loans or grants?

Each institution and lender/grantor have their own requirements.

and the extra question...

6.

Once I get a ssn and all the other good stuff How do i begin a credit history or have a credit?

Borrow money/get a credit card.

In California you'll need a Social Security number to get a driver's license. You'll also need proof of legal immigration status, and proof of your birth date.

You will need to pass the written exam. You can pick up a copy of the California driver's handbook at any DMV office. All of the questions on the test are based on the information in the handbook.

You don't need a "learner's permit" if you are over 18 and have been licensed before, even in another country. You will only need to pass the driving test. You need proof the vehicle is insured when you take the driving test.

20/20 vision is not required from ANY driver in California. As long as your vision is correctable with glasses to 20/40, then you can get a license. If you normally wear prescription eyeglasses then you will be permitted to wear them when you take the vision test.
