Shana Tova to all.

Rosh Hashana begins Friday night, and runs until dusk on Sunday.

Shofar blozen (Blowing of the Shofar) will take place only on Sunday (it is not blown on Shabbat).

Eat lots of apples with honey(*), and wish your friends and loved ones "Shana Tova" (Happy New Year in Hebrew). Also acceptable is "Gut Yahr" (In Yiddish).

The round apples symbolize the annual cycle, as the year wraps around. The honey symbolizes the sweetness we hope to have in the coming year.

Since Timbits are round and sweet too - I hereby posken (rule) that they may be substituted for apples and honey, but a full "k'zayis" measure must be eaten to be "yotzei" (completing the ritual act) - I would guess a k'zayis is probably 3-4 Timbits.
