Switching consulates?

Is there any way I can have my petition processed at the Vancouver consulate rather then the Montreal one? Can I switch it? I wanna get an interview date ASAP

Everyone on VJ wants to get their interview ASAP. To the best of my knowledge the short answer is no.

As you are aware the consulate assignment is based on where the Canadian citizen resides. Toronto goes to Montreal.

actually you can request, but the consulate is not obligated to honor it....

This is not a specific K-1 issue but a consulate issue... moving thread to consulate forum

If you can provide a valid address where you are residing within the Vancouver jurisdiction you can request a move of your file from Montreal to Vancouver. A few VJers were able to do that a few years back by using the address of relatives living within Vancouver's jurisdiction. Vancouver began to crack down on investigating the validity of the addresses and the transfers though and others were denied.

I had experience of switching consulates. You need to ask the consulate where you want to have interview to request the file from the original consulate. For me it took over a month communicating with both consulates before the file arrived to the right consulate. Pain in the neck.
