Hi, I'm not sure if this is the correct forum......

I'd like to send my fiance a prepaid credit card so that he'll have money on the trip. Just in case he gets stuck in NYC after immigration and can't make his flight to Chicago, I'd like for him to have money for a hotel or any problems with the airline. He's coming October 1 from Morocco.

I know I could do Western Union, but that would mean I'd pay a fee for the transfer and then we'd lose more money in the transaction when he changes his money into Dollars.

Has anyone bought a prepaid credit card for their travelling spouse/fiance? I saw that I can buy one at DollarGeneral, but then it looks like I'll have to call and give a SSN. He won't have a SSN until he gets here. Would he even be able to use it?

Any ideas? Experiences??

Thank you!

Rebecca

Our time line for CR1 visa took only 5 months and 1 week or 156 days; from the filing the I-130 on the 03-12-2009 to Approval of NOA2 on the 05/13/2009, then Interview on the 08/18/2009 at Manila, Philippines. We had a daughter on the 11-12-2010 named AISHA JOY means HAPPY LIFE.a1_opt-1.jpga2_opt-1.jpga3_opt-1.jpg

Thanks for the replies! I was able to order one through USBank, with only my SSN. Excellent! I'm much relieved, knowing he'll have access to some money on his way to me!

And Haole, a prepaid credit card is a card which looks just like a credit card, and which all stores accept like it's a credit card. But it's got a certain amount of money on it, and you can't spend more than that.

Thanks for the info, but I guess xoom doesn't work in Morocco! But it's a cool idea!

Thanks. Can you "recharge" it when it runs out?
