Hi guys!

My girlfriend and I just married last Saturday, so now I have to get used to the idea of saying "wife" instead of girlfriend. It feels weird, but good!! :)

I am here in the U.S working on my OPT (optional practical training) after receiving my college degree. I have a work permit (EAD) that expires in January. I am on an F-1 VISA. I have started filling out the documents that I have downloaded, and I would like to send everything in this week. Can someone please tell me if I have the correct paperwork? Is there anything else needed when filing for Adjustment of Status when I am currently on an F-1 VISA? The forms I have downloaded so far are:

I-130

I-485

I-765

G-325A

Is this it? Any other suggestions or tips? Any response would be helpful. Thanks alot!!!

hey, you also need I-693, medical examination form and I-864, Affidavit of Support.

For medical examination you will need to go to a civil sergeon, and take your vaccination records with you (if you have them). Medical examination usually costs between $200-$500 depending on particular vaccinations you will need to get. You can find civil sergeons in your area at uscis.gov.

I-864 form is filled by your wife, to show to USCIS that she has enough income to sponsor you. Here is the link to poverty guidelines:

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD

Your wife will need to submit her federal tax return for the past year, paystubs worth past 6 months and/or employer letter.

G-325A Form is filled by both you and you wife (8 pages yours, 4 pages hers).4 pages yours and hers goes with I-130 Form, and 4 other pages yours goes with I-485.

Don't forget to include 5 passport photos of you and 1 of your spouse. Those can be taken at a pharmacy like CVS oe Wallgreens. I think CVS is having some kind of sale right now with passport photos, cuz I got mine at Wagreens for $7.99( for 2 photos), and CVS is selling 2 photos for $5.99, I think..

ALSO, IT IS IMPORTANT that you get a CERTIFIED COPY OF THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE from the place where you got your marriage license. It might take a few weeks to get it, but it varies in different states. You will need to make 2 photocopies of that to go with your I-130 and I-485. Remember, DO NOT SEND a copy of the original, because, it does not prove to USCIS that it has been recorded by the state!

Don't forget to include evidence of bonafides of your marrige, like a joint bank account statement, joint lease, utility bill, insurance, phone bill, ect.

Good luck with the paperwork and with your future journey!

I erred on the side of paranoia in getting items like passport photos, certified documents, etc. I thought I had enough passport photos of my husband (6) but I was short by two so I told him to get like 4 more. And I got three certified copies of everything we needed (birth certs, marriage certs, divorce certs, etc.). I just didn't want to be caught at the end short something and then having to wait for it to be mailed to me. I followed the guide here on VJ exactly and we mailed our package on June 29 and have interview September 1 already! It you follow it to a tee, you should not have a lot of trouble. I also got one of those large file folder boxes with all the separations inside to keep straight all the paperwork. Right now I'm using the remaining slots for items for our interview next week, so when we are asked for something specific I can go right to it.

I say its better to have too much than have too little...
