I feel for ya Steven, and understand your dilema. It's bad enough when you have to deal with the "silent treatment" when you're together... but over the phone... SUCKS!!! You can't see their face, their reactions, can't hold them or touch them... just listen to silence over the phone as the meter keeps running on the long distance phone bill!!! Just causes more worry and stress. For me... the longer it goes on without being resolved, then the madder I become. :diablo: Not a good thing for that to happen! By that time, its too late, and a mandatory 12 - 24 cooling off period is put into effect!!!

And I found out early on that mentioning the running phone tab will add about a thousand more years to the silence.

Now I try to 'listen' how she's responding to me talking.... was that a 'hmmpphh' or 'huhhhh' or 'hehhhhhh'? It's always multiple choice.

Last night, I just remained calm and said I'm sorry that she's upset (about God knows what) and said goodnight, I'm going to sleep. She calls me back 10 minutes later and tells me something completely out of left field. I finally just laughed out of desperation and she broke down and laughed back. Seems that little things get magnified with the distance and I am sympathetic towards her on that. I just wish I wasn't the target of her scorn.

I have to agree with the hating of the silent treatment. TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG!!! PLEASE!!! If women who do the silent treatment are reading this. For the love of GOD! PLEASE STOP!!! Just spit out what the issue is and then we can move on.

:P That's just a woman for you. Why should we tell you what is wrong? You are supposed to know!

I must say being apart, I am guilty of doing what she is doing to you. I would just rather not discuss it, when I don't feel it would do much good. It's the distance and it plays hell on a normal relationship. "It's not the intent but the impact", found this statement to be so true throughout our seperation. Some things just can not be dealt with well when you are not looking each other in the eye, seeing body language etc. We eventually get it all out in the open, cry, yell (he never yells but I sure do), whatever it takes, then hang up with an I love you talk to you tomorrow.

B

haha. We have very similar stories to share. No matter how much we yell, shout, argue but we ensure to end the coversation saying I LOVE YOU in extremely Sexy way before slamming the phone headset ! I love herrr !! (L):D

I guess us women think that you should know what is bothering us... We think you can read minds, :P

How about this one... "Oh you already KNOW what's wrong! I shouldn't HAVE to tell you." Yeah. Hate that one too.

We don't fight. Ever.

We argue sometimes. We don't yell, call names, slam doors, give the silent treatment, bring up past arguments/issues ... usually we argue and then whatever we argued about is resolved. Sometimes we can't come to an agreement, and then we just end up apologizing to each other within half an hour, max.

I can't imagine being in a relationship where name-calling and door-slamming was appropriate.

For Ryan and I it's name-calling (his end), yelling, silent treatment, sometimes it gets really ugly. But lately, fighting is NOTHING for us. We have lil arguments here and there, but nothing like they use to be.

We make up by cuddling, apologizing, and well you know...

If we didn't argue, we wouldn't have a reason to make up. ;) JK!

Also, my fiancée knows me well enough to know when something is wrong or what not. Don't fight with woman, we DO always win, and YES we do live longer. You guys are backed into a corner. Hehe.

It is called PASSION. And makes for some REALLY hot sex. ;)

It's called "acting like a kindergartener," actually. It was unacceptable and childish to do it when I fought with my sister when I was 10, why is it an acceptable way for two allegedly mature adults to communicate with each other?

And our sex life is just fine. I'm sorry that some people's apparently aren't, if they need to act like horrid children in order to approve it.
