Fighting with your spouse

The boyfriend and I do not fight well. Both of us have explosive tempers; neither of us are physically violent, but serious arguments get very heated.

We deal with it by just working with an understanding that we yell, and that it blows over.

We have some things that are similar to Gwen and Steve and Jinky.

I am the silent one, and he is the one voicing concern etc. Usually the arguments we have been having are common and stupid misunderstandings.

We never say anything we cant take back, no name calling or saying hurtful spaiteful things.

and NEVER EVER go to bed Angry. Even if I am wrong (usually I am not ha ha) I will swallow my pride just so we dont go to bed angry.

bottom line, there are deffinately rules to fighting with your spouse or SO, fight fair!! Always make up!!

and apparently laundry is involved....LOL...I ont get that bit, but oh well.

Name calling in my opinion leaves permanent scars. I was raised not to call people names. Unfortunately, I happened to marry (first wife) someone who wouldn't hesitate to call me names. It really stung when she'd do it in front of our kids....sigh. So, yes, you have to fight fair - there are somethings that are really hard to forget.

Agree with the fighting fair part... I just don't go for the rules part, and neither does my OH.

She told me upfront what to expect, and what I needed to do, and that's about it.

There seems to be a common theme with the women on here... the dreaded "silent treatment". Where the hell do you guys learn that from? Is there a special class you guys go to to learn how to do it? :unsure:

It's just plain annoying!!! :angry::P

I dunno how you guys do that 'silent treatment' thing. I absolutely can't do it. If I'm upset I get a little vocal. But this is only when we're apart--it's really hard to fight in person.

We worked through all of our major lingering issues since we've been apart, on the other hand, though. So I guess some of it had to be said.

Now I guess I'll just wait a few years until something else develops? :)

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
