Hi, havent been around for a while. Please anyone give me some info or advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband had his interview at the consulate in jerusalem on JUNE 23, 2009, the co told him everything was fine but they just needed a "no tax letter" from me the petitioner.

The embassy receives the letter a few weeks later, and on JULY 17, 2009, the embassy called my husband and asked him a variety of questions, they asked him questions such as:

What is you mothers name?

fathers name

sisters names

what do you work

have you ever been out of the country

and they also asked for his haweeya number

The embassy told my husband that they received the letter that was requested after the interview and that they are just going to review his papers one more time and it will take from 1-3 months for them to call him back for his passport.

2 days ago i just received a letter in the mail from the embassy saying (this case is complete but needs additional administrative processing and they will call us as soon as it is complete)

I called DOS and the case is in washinton in AP.

My question is why did they send the case to washington and put him in ap if they already called him and got all their information??????????? He has no criminal record or ANything out of the ordinary, they already questioned him when they called him!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone have any experience, ideas anything, how long can we expect to wait in ap for???? Will it be just like the embassy told my husband when they called him, 1-3 months. And the paper they sent me says that they have completed the case but just needs additonal processing. AND his name is MOHAMMED, common. So how long can we expect to wait for, please anyone help!!

Breath. Your in the last stage before they issue the visa which is Administrative Review. From what I've read all AP and AR is done is Washington now so that is not abnormal. If they said 1-3 months expect 1-3 months and hang in there. If they go beyond that you may contact your Congressman or Senator and get them involved in your case.

Although of course we dont know all or everything that is done during AP/AR (and personally I think its a catch-all phrase to cover a lot of things) one of the big ones is all the FBI/State Dept/national security name checks. A long time ago we had a thread that listed and explained all of them that anyone could think of. Anyway once you get to this point its actually good news, because the government doesnt go to the time and expense and effort to do all this research and name clearance until everything else to issue the visa is cleared. so I know it comes at the very point in the process where its almost hardest to bear, try to see it as positive in a wierd way because it means that everything else is completed and 'checked off'. its just the last painful step :)

This is your worst nightmare? Why? It is AP not a denial. You can almost always count on AP when your SO is from an MENA country. You're almost done.

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

Whatever your status I wish you a speedy and positive outcome.

AP is normal, it can be scary and uncertain but your time will come.

You can keep calling and emailing to check on your status but don't get yourself too worried right now. It is all quite normal.

GOOD LUCK
