I've heard this blue ink/black ink discussion going on here, but I remember seeing specific USCIS directions that reflected to use only black ink! I have the sheet at work, so I don't even remember where I got it off the top of my head.

Yeah for the form! Two diff. things

I am starting the K-1 Visa process, and my fiance just sent her signed G-325A from Brazil to me. I just read on the homepage that ...

"VisaJourney would like to remind all petitioners that are required to file a USCIS G-325A Biographic Information Form to submit four copies of the Biographical Information page (page one on the newest form). In the past the G-325A form contained four pages that automatically printed out (with the same information on all pages). The new form only has one page however petitioners should still submit four copies of the Biographic Information page with their petition."

My fiance only signed and sent me 1 copy. Should I make copies of this form? Do I really need to send 4 of this form?

Thanks,

Drew

yes when my fiance sent me g-325a i signed all the 4 forms, signature and date... but wait didnt heard about this blue ink... i used black ink hope we will not get rfe bcoz of black ink....worried now...

It's not that your wrong or right Black/Blue ink, but when you sign in blue ink it's hard for them to say (Photo Copy) The form needs to be filled out in black! Print or hand write......

The instructions for the G-325A do not specify what color ink to use. I think the suggestion to use blue ink is to make it obvious that the signature is original and not a photocopy or scan. People have gotten RFE's for sending photocopies of signed G-325A's.

The instructions for the I-129F specifically say to use black ink, but I've never heard of anyone getting an RFE for using blue ink on the form. I doubt USCIS cares much what color ink you use, as long as they can tell that the signatures are original.

True! !Sign your original copy in blue ink !

Funny how threads get off track. The OP asked about whether four signed copies are required and about half the people replying aren't aware of the new G325a PDF that is just one copy. I've never seen an RFE for more signed copies of a G325a. They've had copiers for years and know how to use them. I've always advised signing all four copies of the G325a when the old version is used. When using the new one, clearly only one copy is needed. The dirty little secret is that's been true a long time.

Black ink, whether from a pen or a printer is fine for everything. I like the idea of signing in blue ink but they'll accept black signatures.

True about black ink fine for everything, but when you do business with the embassy they allways hand you a blue pin to sign.

Black ink is always preferred. Blue ink does not always photocopy/scan properly.

Black is what you need to fill the form out in, don't know what year your copier/scaner was made. but now days it's no problem! If your scaner's old take it to a copy shop!

We sent photocopies in and I was concerned about the very thing and a USCIS agent said that it doesn't specify so send in what I have. We are now near the interview phase....

Sorry I posted in the wrong spot earlier. I called USCIS about the very thing discussed here and according to one of the agents she said it doesn't specify it. We sent copies and we are at the interview stage. No RFE's thus far in the process.

"It" doesn't specify "what"? The instructions do say that you can send photocopies of evidence, but documents that require your signature are supposed to be original. Are you saying you sent a copy of the I-129F or the G-325A?

OMG this is hilarious.... so I called the USCIS back and talked to another operator... :D They really know whats going on over there!!! Now Mrs. G653971 told me that the most accurate information is on the USCIS website, and that they have updated the G-325a form and no longer need 4 copies, only 1 signed copy for each person.. but guess what other information she told me :D I didnt know about that might help someone else.... You can sign your husband/wife's G-325a form if they are not present :D she told me to sign my name and write petitioner by it...

Wow this is confusing. I sent only one copy of the G-325A since that is what printed out. I guess only time will tell. I do have 2 copies of my wife's left (she sent me 3..dont know why she picked this number..but that is what i got). I figured if it didnt state 4 copies like in the earlier days..i only needed one for each of us.

You should be fine. Numerous VJ members have reported approvals after sending only one copy each, while no RFEs for additional copies have been reported.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

News flash!!! USCIS service centers recently purchased and set up photocopiers. Recently as in decades ago. They only just got around to changing the old downloadable G325a form to have one page. In four years, I've seen examples of numerous folks getting through the system with one copy of the G325a.

I think I was the guinea pig. I was approved with only one copy (I actually sent in four with my hubby's 325A-old form-and one with mine-new form!). The VJ instructions are old. You only have to send in one!!!!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!
