G-325A, do all copies need to be signed?

I am starting the K-1 Visa process, and my fiance just sent her signed G-325A from Brazil to me. I just read on the homepage that ...

"VisaJourney would like to remind all petitioners that are required to file a USCIS G-325A Biographic Information Form to submit four copies of the Biographical Information page (page one on the newest form). In the past the G-325A form contained four pages that automatically printed out (with the same information on all pages). The new form only has one page however petitioners should still submit four copies of the Biographic Information page with their petition."

My fiance only signed and sent me 1 copy. Should I make copies of this form? Do I really need to send 4 of this form?

Thanks,

Drew

Hi Drew-when my husband did his 325A, it was the old version so I sent in his four copies (all with original signatures). By the time I got to it, I did the new version. I didn't send four copies of mine-only one. In retrospect, I should have sent four just to be on the safe side. There are conflicting answers to this. I'll be the guinea pig and let you know if I get an RFE for this! It would be surprising, since the uscis directions don't address this.

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

It's "up in the air" at this time what to do? 1 or 4? Have your lady send you 3 more signed. If you are in a huge rush submit with only 1 and by the time [iF you do] you get a RFE you'll have have them ready to send back.

I've heard this blue ink/black ink discussion going on here, but I remember seeing specific USCIS directions that reflected to use only black ink! I have the sheet at work, so I don't even remember where I got it off the top of my head.

The instructions for the G-325A do not specify what color ink to use. I think the suggestion to use blue ink is to make it obvious that the signature is original and not a photocopy or scan. People have gotten RFE's for sending photocopies of signed G-325A's.

The instructions for the I-129F specifically say to use black ink, but I've never heard of anyone getting an RFE for using blue ink on the form. I doubt USCIS cares much what color ink you use, as long as they can tell that the signatures are original.

Funny how threads get off track. The OP asked about whether four signed copies are required and about half the people replying aren't aware of the new G325a PDF that is just one copy. I've never seen an RFE for more signed copies of a G325a. They've had copiers for years and know how to use them. I've always advised signing all four copies of the G325a when the old version is used. When using the new one, clearly only one copy is needed. The dirty little secret is that's been true a long time.

Black ink, whether from a pen or a printer is fine for everything. I like the idea of signing in blue ink but they'll accept black signatures.

The RFE's were for sending in photocopies which were made AFTER the document was signed. Apparently, some people tried to save some time by having a scanned copy of the form emailed to the petitioner. The scanned copy was printed and sent to USCIS. Of course, they rejected it.

Please refer to this article from the front page of VJ:

This article says that four copies are still required to be submitted, even though the new form is only one page.

I suggest you sign all the copies. Why would you not do this? Fill out the forms completely.

The reason I wouldn't sign 4 copies is that my fiance in Brazil sent me only 1 signed copy of the G-325A. We don't feel like waiting another 7-10 days for her to mail 3 more copies.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

This article says that four copies are still required to be submitted, even though the new form is only one page.

The article is erring on the side of caution (not a bad thing, to be sure!) but does not represent any sort of official communication from USCIS on the matter. The article is probably good advice, but pushbrk is right: the new form is only one page, and USCIS has been telling people who ask about the discrepancy that only one page is required.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.
