Hey guys,

I am preparing for phase 2 of my visa journey and started snooping around for packet 3 stuff (even though we have not received anything yet). In one of the forms (D156K) one of the supporting documents that he must bring to his interview is evidence of engagement. Other than engagement ring receipts, what else can he provide? We didn't make a big fuss about having an engagement party and his grandmother gave me her engagement ring so what can I show as evidence? Would it trigger a red flag if we don't provide any paperwork to show we're engaged?

Hi Jonara,

I may not be much help. The only form I know of is the 'letter of intent to marry' is that what you are talking about? I guess 'evidence of engagement' has me thrown off. But, I'm sure one of the other VJers will be able to help you.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Ditto - A few days before my fiance's interview I sent him an email reiterating my commitment to marry him and my excitement about our plans to marry. We had stacks of emails, copies of instant messages, copy of money tranfer receipts. Regarding direct evidence of engagement - they only asked him what are plans were for a marriage (which we didn't have finalized, just had an idea) and when we were hoping to get married (which of course we couldn't know for sure, pending the visa). We haven't purchased any rings - only planning on having wedding bands. However, others on vj have suggested that if you have purchased rings you should be prepared with a copy of the receipt. Some K1 VJrs were able to make plans for a wedding - I guess they were giving it their best guess - and provided copies of documents supporting those arrangements. Again, based on my fiance's experience we did not have any receipts to provide, just restated our commitment.
