Hi everyone!

I've been meaning to join this forum for a long time and have gotten a lot of good information from it. I don't know how my case went so quickly, it took less than three months from filing to approval for conditional GC, which I received on August 20, 2009!

I just hope that all of you out there are as lucky, and I am sending you all the good vibes that were bestowed onto my husband and I!

I will still come in here to see what is going on from time to time and if anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.

FYI, we live close to Fort Lauderdale Florida.

Best wishes and good luck to all!!!

Hello and welcome Floridacouple! I encourage you to visit the Canada Forum here on VJ...for the rest of your visa journey, and other non-sequential fun! Did you apply for EI? You'll find a pinned thread in the Canada Forum on that as well. Might be too late now though...but check it out.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showforum=93

Now, for your timeline, go up to My Assistance, in the top right corner under the blue banner, and click on Edit My Timeline, and you can enter that information there.

That should help.

Also noticed you had and Emergency AP for your Father's funeral. I'm so sorry. (F)

Thanks Carla. Do I need to apply for EI? I have all my documents to work here and wouldn't want to lose my Canadian privileges... in the end, I'm going for dual and I do spend my time half here and half there... it's a weird situation lol.... but I don't want to say too much here...

Thanks for the warm welcome!!!

No, you don't have to apply for EI at all if you don't want. All Canadians that immigrate to the US can obtain dual citizenship, you don't lose your Canadian citizenship when you become an American citizen. You can apply (depending on how long ago you quit your job in Canada) for EI while living in the US here until you find a job here in the U.S. Please visit the thread I posted earlier, and you can always call the Belleville, Ontario office to clarify. You actually can't get EI until you've received your GC or EAD here in the US anyway. Depending on how long you were working in Canada, you're only reaping what you put into it while employed and living there. Your choice however.
