Well I am here now at my parents home. A few weeks ago I wanted to come out and spend time with my father cause he is in pain and has bone cancer. He was losing weight fast. For the past couple weeks he slept in his recliner cause he had so much pain he could not even stay in the bed. He was aging very fast over the last week or so.

he looked white or pale. On thursday he got up without anyone knowing it and went upstairs and took a shower and when he came down he fell in the kitchen. My mom had to call the person next door to help get him up and then she call our doctor and he told us to call a amblans *sp* she we called 911 and they came and got him, went to the hosptal and he cracked a pelvis bone.

I came in yesterday and he is so much pain. From sitting in the chair he has a bed sore. I was shocked at the way he looked. He was just skin and bones. His normal weight is around 250 lbs. I would guess he is around 170 or maybe a little less. he is about 6'2" tall.

Our main doctor said we just going to make him comferable. maybe stop his kidney treatments.

I do not think he will last too long. maybe a month or two.

I do not want to see him like that.

HE IS THE BEST FATHER TO My sister and myself.

He is a great husband. My parents are married 48 yrs.

Thanks

I`m so sorry to hear about your father. It`s horrible to see a loved one fade away like that. All you can do right now is just try and make him feel comfortable and that will help you and you family feel better, at least I hope so.

The story of my Father is almost identical to yours. Dad found out in ER that he had Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer - 250 pounds and a puffy face, and he declined to 200 pounds or so within 10 days. He left us 13 days after being diagnosed.

While in Intensive Care, he urged me to file my K-1 for Leidys so that he could meet her soon. "I won't be here very long, you have to send for her!" he told me. He stopped eating, because his kidneys and liver began to shut down. At that point, he was gone in about 4 days. We also made him, "Comfortable" until the angels came to get him. The day was getting dark and cloudy--his heart rate began dropping, while the clouds outside of his hospital window got real white. A light shone inside the room, and within 2-3 minutes, he was gone...but, in peace. Just stay by your Father's side. He can hear everything you say. He needs his family surrounding him, in a calm space. That's what he needs right now.

I am so sorry. Bone cancer is very painful for both the sufferer and those watching. My aunt died of cancer that had spread to the bones. She 10 days after diagnosis. I hope your father does not have to suffer long. My prayers are with you and your family.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Been there, done that, had a father with cancer. Nothing I can say will make it any easier.

The best thing is to remember all the good times, and it sounds to me like you and he had plenty.

Best Wishes (F)

well I was with him every day while I was in Calif. he was good at times and knew what was going on and other days he was too doped up to know what was going on.

All his doctors agree that he should just stop his kidney treatment, Get Hopsice to help and set him up at him. Just make the his remainting time as pain free as you can.

He cant be transported because of his fracture pevis, but I do not think that was a factor or not. I just think if he could go to kidney treatment and radiation treatment it will just prolong the pain.

The cancer was too far spread. I do not think it would of matter.

so one of his doctors that is a Pain Doctor, is great, he said maybe 2 weeks or less of life expected.

So I think I saw my father yesterday for the last time. but Yes I will remember the good times and not this pass few times.

Just thank God he was a great man. Good Husband to my mother, and father to my sister and me

Peace
