Well at this point the sky in my area is overcast, full of what we call clouds, which in reality are just water vapor suspended in the atmosphere, so the term cloud does not fully ecompass the reality of what I am seeing out side right now.....a world covered in water droplets.

Clouds are visible accumulations of water droplets or solid ice crystals that float in the Earth's troposphere (the lowest part of the Earth's atmosphere), moving with the wind. From space, clouds are visible as a white veil surrounding the planet.

Now so far as the sun goes, I do not see it specifically up in the sky but it is important to realize that the sun is a star.

A star is any massive gaseous body in outer space, just like the Sun. Unlike a planet, a star generates energy through nuclear fusion and therefore emits light. All stars except the Sun appear as shining points in the nighttime sky that twinkle because of the effect of the Earth's atmosphere and their distance from us. The Sun is also a star, but it is close enough to Earth to appear as a disk instead, and to provide daylight.

Although you might not notice it "shining" at a specific given time in your location, the mechanism behind the so-called shine is always in action.
