I was just curious how often, and how much the couples here talk. Me and my girl talk on skype and google talk. We have logged over 1,500 hours of talk time in 1 year. She speaks great english and our topics cover everything from theology to quantum mechanics to what we did that day.

It's so nice having a mate that has the EXACT same core belief system that i do. I really believe that couple's that can keep each other interested through mutual, good conversation will always have a good sex life and a long relationship.

So how often do yall talk?

 As usual, I agree with ya one hundred percent John. Communication is the key to building a strong foundation for the rest of the relationship.

EVERY DAY without fail since March. Whether its webcam, or the phone, we usually talk for hours. IN the morning on my way to work we talk for about 30 minutes there, and maybe 3 times a week I call her to tell her goodnight while I'm at work. Sometimes its not possible while at work, but any chance I get, I am calling her. Either way, we talk after I get home from work. Sometimes I hope I am not annoying her, but she assures me i'm not, and she always answers. So i guess its ok.

I think it's a testament to the sweetness of a good Filipina. I just don't get tired of talking with her. Every little thing she says and does is like magic.....wait, that's a police song!

Lol.

Well, it's good to hear so many here have good communication with their mate. I really can't wait for her to get here because it will be SOOO nice not to have to sit in front of this computer so much!

We chat every day.

When we first met we chatted every day, every few days as just friends and nothing more. After we started to feel something more, we chatted 12-24 hours a day. (Yes, 24 hours once or twice in the first month). After that usually 6-8 hours a day. When I visited there, all day every day 24/7. :P Now we chat anywhere between 8+ hours per day depending on the activity.

Her dad gave me money to buy her a laptop here in the US before I went, and I decided to buy her Skype which gives her a US phone number to call my cell phone any time she wants. I bought her a $100 Skype phone that connects to wifi so she can call me when she's out and about, but she also buys herself Globe cards for international calls.

Her laptop has a built in webcam, and I bought one as well but we don't use it too often.

Hubby and I used to talk all the time everyday - be it chat, email, and phone. We worked for the same company too so that was a huge advantage. To all those who were successful - I SALUTE YOU!

This was a great thing for our relationship and a real blessing. I have the kind of personality who is visual-kinesthethic and I need a "touch all the time". I can't honestly imagine how it would have worked without the constant communication.

We talk everyday. :)

Before we got MagicJack, we talked during my lunch break (12 noon to 1:00 p.m.) The rest of the time was e-mail and Yahoo Messenger.

Rick also called me using a call card and Yahoo, but later that got really expensive...since he was texting my cell phone using his Sprint service too! lol

Since we got MagicJack, we talk longer. I get to call him during his lunch breaks (in Florida), and on the weekends, we talk 9 hours without getting bored! Plus we have added Google chat to our arsenal of communication tools. But you know...sending cards and letters through the mail are even more romantic and thoughtful. :)

Take note however that we could talk duing 5 hour blocks at a time because the battery of my phone (Panasonic wireless landline) would die, and so we would stop for a couple of hours to let the phone recharge.

My mother-in-law often jokes that we will run our of things to do or talk about...but I don't know...we just find different things to talk about. :D

This is so interesting! Great topic. If you see my timeline below, my husband and I met a LONG time ago. When we reconnected last year, we spent so much time talking on the phone for a month before I flew off to see him. He got a sweet deal with his phone company, then he got a US number thru Skype. Sometimes we'd talk for five hours straight! And we aren't super young (40s) so we feel like teenagers. We spent a month getting to know each other again before meeting after 21 years of not seeing each other. That's why we had not a single second of awkardness when we saw each other for our "second" first time! We didn't know at the beginning that each of us were saving each other's emails in a special folder! We've done that for 10 months now-we each have maybe 7,000 emails saved from each other. Pathetic, I know...anyway, we've never gone a day without hours on the phone (of course with the time difference he's up late and I'm getting off work), and many times we call each other if we can't sleep. Included in this are dozens of emails each day when we're both at work. I could never go a day without hearing his sweet Finnish voice!

Wow, this makes me miss him so much!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!
