I was checking that out this morning. Looks like the DOW shrugged off the dismal new claims for unemployment numbers.

If Obama can't enact the core policy initiatives of his campaign platform - he's obviously going to be out of office (unless of course the GOP manages to put up a completely ridiculous candidate - like Sarah Palin).

& i still say the GOP threw the election in 2008 coz no Republican would have won. McCain/Palin fvckin really?

It would have been very difficult for *any* GOP candidate to win that election - because that person would have had to show that they were prepared to draw a line under the Bush administration and prove that they were something demonstrably different from what had gone before.

McCain realized that a little too late I think - McCain accepted an endorsement from Bush after he won the nomination and there was a suggestion from Bush that he would go out and campaign actively for him in November.

Then when the RNC convention came around, Bush was snubbed not only by the McCain campaign but by the entire party.

I don't think they realised quite how much of an albatross Bush had become.

Heck even Tom Ridge just came out with a book trying to distance himself from the Bush/Cheney/Ashcroft/Rumsfeld fear machine by stating they pressured him to raise the fear Terror threat levels for the 2004 elections...

honestly, how could a man that was close to dropping out of the GOP race who had no money because he had no supporters. out of nowhere become the front runner to lead the party in the next election?
