Is certified cheque necessary?

I'm ready to send away the applications for long form birth certificate and marriage certificate. Nowhere on the applications does it mention sending "certified" cheques. Would a regular cheque be ok? Maybe someone else here has had an application sent back because their cheque wasn't certified? I just want to be sure.

I just called the family court office this morning to find out if my cheque needs to be certified that I included in the letter requesting a divorce certificate, and the answer was YES.

I did my birthcert online and used my VISA...but you can just go to the bank and easily do the certified cheque if you're worried about it.

Is this Ontario? I've never applied for a divorce certificate, but in my experiences with the Ontario government, they usually accept cash or credit card if you appear in person. If you are doing this through mail then check is probably your only payment option, so I would definitely get a certified one from your bank to be safe.
