Hello everyone! Just wondering, having a church wedding increases your chance of approval in regards to the visa process? Since Catholics are allowed to be married once, would this proves that it is unlikely to be a fraud in the eyes of those who are processing applications and interviewers? Once more question, if I was to fly back for about 1 week for my wife's interview, would that also increases her chance of seeing pink? I heard if they see that the couple are there together, it helps a lot. My thinking is that if she pass the interview, we can fly together to America. Thanks for the info.

If you're both Catholic and plan to marry before you file your petition (CR1 or K3) then definitely have a church wedding. It isn't so much that having the church wedding will help your chances, but not having a church wedding could hurt your chances. HCM works on a sort of demerit system where every red flag works against you, and a church wedding is the cultural norm for Catholics. Not having a church wedding would go against these cultural norms.

The fact that the Catholic church does not recognize divorce will have no affect whatever. The concept that you're only allowed to do this once in the Catholic church (which is not really true) will not convince the CO that the relationship is more likely to be legitimate. A fraudster only NEEDS to do this once, and for most it will be their first wedding. A Catholic wedding is just as likely to be fraud as a Buddhist wedding.

You can't actually attend the interview with your wife, but it does seem to help if the CO knows you are there waiting during the interview. 1 week will probably not be enough, if you expect her to fly back with you. It may take longer than a week to get the visa if she is approved at the interview. It would be a good idea not to buy a plane ticket for her until she actually has the visa in hand.

They really need to delete that mention of a visa being ready in 1 or 2 days... on the HCMC website...
