If You Could Choose to Live in Any State, Which Would You Choose???

I was living in Northwest Georgia when I met hubby, and he really loved it there (I miss it too). Sadly for him, I moved to Northern New Hampshire so that is the only place he has lived in the States. It is absolutely gorgeous here, and this area has grown on hubby, but he misses easy access to a metro area. If he could choose, he would have us live somewhere incredibly hot all the time. The man loves the heat. I swear, he would be comfortable in Hell. He gets annoyed with me when I am dying and turn the AC on and he curls up in a blanket.

Not sure where a happy medium would be. He is intrigued by the idea of West Virginia (I lived there for 2 years and have talked about it a lot).

I would live in Florida- specifically the Florida Keys! I lived in Plantation Key (in the upper keys) for 5 years from age 11-16. I absolutely loved living there. The only problem is it doesn't have a mall and at times you feel secluded. But the water is clear down to the bottom, and believe it or not the schools were excellent (mostly because all of the houses are nearly 1 million $$ or more so the kids all come from well educated families). I just loved the laid-back friendly attitudes and the beautiful scenery. It was like living in paradise!

Well I'm going to Maine and I don't think I'd want to change where I will live. Four seasons, gorgeous scenery and compared to Manitoba mild winters :)

Well since i've only travelled through the border states westward and am now living in Idaho I'd say this is a great state, though i did fall in love with cali on vacation calavaras county' and coming from manitoba and our winters there the last 2 years have felt like home without the -45 windchill, but i'd say as long as i'm with my love we could live anywhere.

I live in Charlotte now (funny how I am posting this right after you), but I just came back from visiting Beaver Creek (where I used to have a condo with my ex (now she has it :( ), but it is beautiful out there year 'round if you are an outdoor person. I grew up in Florida (West Coast), but also spent a lot of time in Ft. Lauderdale area where we used to keep a boat and I wouldn't want to live there. But for our retirement, we are heading to Belize....

I've actually never been out to the Vail area! I hear its lovely, I should really make a point to go visit one day. I'm trying to convince my husband we need to take skiing lessons this winter, so maybe that would be a good place to hit. He's lived in Colorado for 22 years and has never even attempted skiing! I need to help him change that. We live in a Southern Denver suburb and I'll never get over the beautiful view of the mountains I see everyday.

I feel the same way about Florida. Its great to visit but I wouldn't want to live there... Same with California. Its definitely lively and interesting, but there's no way i'd survive. I do miss NC, however. I haven't been back since my husband moved in 2006.

i'm moving to Connecticut and am so happy that i'm only an hour away from NYC, as i currently live right in the heart of Downtown Toronto and am a city girl at heart; however, i despise the cold and even though CT has milder conditions that Toronto, it's not where i would like to live forever. I was in Phoenix, Arizona this year and loved the dry heat and scenery; i also love Miami - it's our favourite getaway spot.

But, I don't care for upstate NY in the least!

:o

But what about all those beautiful mountains and lakes? :crying: And snow. Lovely lovely snow.

Mountains? Or large hills? There's also the sinking economy, poor infrastructure and the funky Buffalo smell.

I love how everyone would like to live in Colorado but I'm one of the few Vjers who do. I think we should create a colony up in the mountains!
