:crying: I'm beginning to think Ireland hates us... :crying: I've been trying to book two rooms at a B&B, unsuccessfully now for awhile. Background info...we are going the beginning of August and back in May I was on the ball, found a place and requested a room for us and one for a friend of hubster, who is coming down from Belfast to Dublin where we will be staying. We thought we got the rooms booked just fine and then at least a month later, I got an email from the B&B owner saying that she'd booked our room, but inadvertently forgotten to book our friends and now she had no more rooms....and did we still want the room. We politely told her we wanted to stay at the same place with friend. So I had to find another place... I've emailed inquiries to two other B&B's requesting availability on rooms and they haven't even responded to the emails...

NO ONE WANTS US!!!! :crying:

Should I just bite the bullet and call them? I hesitate, only because I know the conversation will probably be difficult on both ends with understanding each other...hehe. Why do these places bother having email addreses and inquiry forms on their websites if they aren't going to respond? I've heard the "Irish way" is laid back, relax, tomorrow....but I need to know where we will be staying!!!!!

Any advice?

I always found the hotel or b&b owners in Dublin to be really nice-sounds like they just made a huge mistake.

I am sure you can find another place-I found tons of rooms on-line, try google-just type in "b&b's in dublin"

good luck

yeah, I did...I guess I just have to call though, since two of them now haven't responded to emails. That's the reason I wanted to stay at a B&B over a hotel though...rather get some of that good Irish charm in a cute, friendly, warm place...

North of city centre...half way between there and the airport would be ideal.

I'd call too Frances, Irish businesses (sp?) are notoriously bad for responding to e-mails. It drives my husband nuts too, especially because sometimes it's harder to understand accents over the phone.

Give 'em a call girl as going by previous experiences of our own, you probably won't get any reply!! A lot of the owners have someone else set up the website, but they themselves can't use e-mail etc...go figure :D

Hope you get somewhere sorted, I'm sure you will!

Last time I went to Dublin I was the only Brit in our B+B....everyone else were Americans...I wouldn't worry about the accent thing

I couldn't get a room in the city itself...well it was St paddys....but stayed on the outskirts, at a lovely B+B...and took the Dart into town...

Have a great trip!
