I see the consulate coming up with some reason to deny this, or at least put it on AP until 2020.

Lol why?

Because of the 32 year age difference.

she will be 18 in about a month....

And how old are you?

If you are older than 25-30, she has nothing in common during the two of your life stages.

Not to mention it's illegal if you're doing anything.

Apparently the Age of Consent is 12.

Ack. ewww...and all other ways to express complete disgust.

Seattle2Cebu left out a few facts about his relationship. He is 50 and his girlfriend is 17.

http://www.livingincebuforums.com/ipb/inde...hl=seattle2cebu

I have to leave before I get horribly judgmental. I am biting my tongue so badly.

Excuse me OP, but I am not about to take advice from a man who begs for money from strangers over the internet and sleeps with a child.

And for the record....if you think you know your fiance now, wait until she grows up a bit, because I for one know I am not the same person now that I was when I was 17. I hope your time in Cebu hasn't been wasted. But I suspect it has.

Not to be a Debbie Downer here but it's relative. You're in her turf, she is comfortable, she's within the confines of familiar environment. A big plus is her USC bf is around so everything is peachy... a familiar home, friends and bf around. Hauling her to the USA is yet another test. People change depending on where you position them. Enjoy your period of courtship and kumbayaing. But expect more challenges. Nothing in love and marriage is that cut and dry.

Agree! I spent four month in the PI, got to say it was an eye opening experience. I’m not saying I did not like or enjoy the people, culture and lifestyle but I can understand your point of view. You can take the girl out of the Philippines but you can’t take the Philippines out of the girl.

She will go thru a big change in lifestyle that very well, or may-not conform to yours…. I feel some what lucky do to the fact I live in Hawaii, I have many Filipinos friends and many live here on Maui as well. So the Filipino culture is all around and my wife will have a familiar environment, with a US twist!

laughing at the in before the lock comment...

anytime you speak the truth, it causes a stir...

Im not saying all relationships involving visas are bad... Im just pointing out the bad dynamic that happens

older guy wanting younger girl and girl wanting to escape... both using each other.. happens all the time

and it dont work...

It must be different in the Philippines if you think so (I do not know anything about the Philippines, so I cannot say anything about such cases). However ...

... in my own case, I take offense to your statement.

You can say that I am an older guy (40+) wanting a younger girl (20+), but my girl NEVER wanted to escape. In fact, she begged me to move to Russia with her, because that way she could be closer to her family (her mother begged too). She NEVER used me, and she loves me so much that she is willing to sacrifice all that she has grown to love only to give herself the chance to build a family with me. Simple economics leaned the scale to the side of the USA.

I am thankful for the opportunity that the USA gives me to bring her with a K-1 visa and I am a firm believer that it should be made easier in most cases, instead of more difficult ... so, it may not work in your case, but if you take the time and effort to get to know your future mate, it can work wonderfully, even without living six months in the foreigner's home land (again, simple economics prevents most people from doing such a thing).

Many people in this forum have already proven that it can be successful. Your opinion is just that: your opinion!

Is it not you are using the child so you can escape from falling of USA where you can't make money anymore? Not to mention she can't barely speak English. I agree with someone post that, WAIT 'TIL SHE GROWS UP!! I don't think she knows what she wants in her life right now, when I was then 17, I am not thinking of having a relationships to an Old man nor marrying and I don't like to have a relationships with a foreign, not until I met my husband. Back then, I asked him to stay in the Philippines but he has work.

Marriage is about love.

Who told you that you can't make money in the US, your misinformed, it may be slow in parts of the job sectors but money can be made... As for speaking english How do you know she can barely speak english? I had no problem with someone in the PI talking to me in english. If i'm not mistaken they teach it in school

to this date, we have not had sexual relations... We are waiting for marriage. She cant marry until age 18

the age of consent is 12, but there is a range , something like 10 years... so if the guy is older than that, then it is illegal.,

also sex for pay is illegal at any age..

since I have been here, I have rescued two families from homes ( bamboo shacks ) that were demolished in slum areas,

I have gotten home based and location based call center jobs for filipinos

I have supplied computers and cellphones so people can go to work.

I volunteer and teach english

i teach computer skills

I raise money to buy rice and distribute

I work to get medical attention to children

I work with street children...

what are you doing? Do you have even the slightest idea of what people here go through.. there are no govt programs

no food stamps, If you are sick and have no money, you just die... American business terribly exploits these people

so while you are sitting back and judging me, why dont you send some money to a third world hell hole, and help a child.

ya i had a bad time for a month or so, almost lost my leg to an infection, my money was screwed up.. so what.

it was good because i learned just what it is really like here to need medical care and food and housing and have no money.

she will be 18 in about a month....

That logic is just too f*cked up to even comprehend. You don't see a problem with a 50 year old man marrying an 18 year old girl? Screw the visa part of all this. Does that seem right to you? Also, I find it a little odd that you claim to be doing all this charity work, but not too long ago you were asking people here for money.
