Meh. Frankly, as a healthcare provider, I'd be happy if the terminally ill would decide to just die.

You get so many full-code patients who should be DNR. The only reason is that the family cannot let go. So you have grandma, who eats and shits and breathes through a tube, who lives in a nursing home for DECADES like this (of course you're not visiting her)...they slowly get worse and worse. Eventually they die, but only after we throw everything at them.

All paid by Medicaid, of course.

Keep that in mind, repubs, next time you decide that you want your demented 98 year-old grandma to live forever. lol.

Healthcare is rationed already anyway. Its just a shame people are too wrapped up in sensationalist op-ed nonsense to realise it.

Someone already decides if grandpa is worth giving treatment - and in some States (like Texas) there are actually laws that allow the hospital to discontinue care regardless of the patient's or relatives wishes and regardless of the existence of a living will.

I talk to my 92 yr old grandmother all the time (little harder to visit every month since I moved to TX a few yrs ago (we used to live 250 miles apart)). she is a fabulous person and we are "thicker than thieves". when you get my grandmother, sister, and I in the same room ... it's an absolute blast. with my 1 yr old twins present ... the years disappear.
