I haven't read the last few pages but I thought I would add some links to help with proof - for either of you, on the cost of some self inflicted medical problems. Obesity costs have actually rise quite a bit in the last 10 years but still are under 10% of total healthcare costs. HEre is a link to a USAnews article for you that states:

According to workshifts.org 6 to 9% of healthcare costs in this county is directly related to smoking.

If you factor in alcohol, problably less than 30% of all the healthcare costs in the USA are related to Obesity, smoking and alcohol. I don't think that is "most of" our healthcare expenses. Question: Why does the obese that make up 35% of the US population but only contribute 9% to the healthcare costs? Interesting I would have thought it would be higher.
