St. Paul was an entirely different office dependent on which IO you get, very nice lady at the AOS, didn't want to see our original evidence, was very polite and kind, but that shifted 180* with my wife's IO at her USC interview, checked all the original evidence to make sure we didn't modify the copies that would be insane to do so, then hit her for a utility bill we didn't submit, but I tossed one in anyway, just in case with both our names on it. Bring in all that evidence, and be able to know the N-400 by heart to explain why you answered the questions the way you did. Need your passport/s to verify your trips outside of the USA exceeding 24 hours, your green card to get in, and know your civics test answers. Dress professionally and act that way, and if you pass, request when you should expect your oath letter, can even beg to say your oath the same day like some offices do.

I just read of an experience in NYC where the IO was very unfriednly, my question is until when do we have to keep on proving the validation of our marriage, dealing with the USCIS has been a total headache i just hope that everythign comes out fine during my september interview so we dont have to ever deal with them again.

Seems to me since they do put such a great emphasis on marriage based validation three year applications, should let the US spouse be that part of the interview, then for that couple of seconds for the civics and English test, kick the US spouse out. Wouldn't mind saying, don't you even have the slightest idea what we had to go through just to get this far?

Thank Trillium, i checked them and they are all reviews for the 1st interview as a couole, when you fisrt go for the green card, none for citizenship. On a different note, i just read in another forum, of a guy who went for an interview for N400"marriage based" and was questioned by the IO, was asked for all the supporting evidence, and was asked if the wife was in the waiting room, then they put the wife in a separate room and she was also questioned, at the end the gave him the '' Can't make a decision at the moment excuse'' he did pass the civic test. I have never heard of the USCIS doing that during an N400 interview, but i guess they are like God they can do anything they want,!!!!!!!

#######. Didn't know there weren't any citizenship interviews in there. Bummer about those other people's experience, I didn't know they asked those kind of questions at that stage!

Best of luck to you!

make sure you have someting for each year (copies of submitted or new)

and that you have the most recent bills available (heard about a story at Newark where the IO asked for a recent utility bill, the girl had something in her bag, a month old, but the officer said she needs hte most recent )

do you own/lease the appartment/house together?

But they rarely give hard time

I'm sure your box will look quite funny, want to see the pictures :)

You can read reviews of people's interview experiences here:

I had my marriage-based N400 interview this week- not in Newark though, in Orlando. I have posted my experience in the section linked to above. All went pretty as expected- took loads of documents and they didn't ask to see any!
