Perhaps we should evolve to a society where wealth is not neccessary, each according to his need, each according to his ability.

Is this like Mornington Crescent Commie style? If so, I think that's a winning move ;)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

unfortunately, i don't think a fair tax across the board fits too well with the far left's mantra of tax the rich until they bleed.

The rich always get over & the middle class always gets screwed... a little bleeding works for me :P

Hmmm... I can definitely understand how some folks would be easily confused by legislative language. But really... if people don't want to learn to verify the source of their philosophical, political, and economical motives, then they shouldn't be participating in the process at all. That just makes them appear to those that do fact check as complete tools.

We can be pros at everything and sometimes we must rely on the pros. Life is just too short. I would argue that if your going to take a stand for or against this bill that you should have a very good understanding of the bill but to be able to comprehend and digest 1000 pages of legal nonsense is a whole different thing.

And the clock continues to tick. Time that could have been spent better utilized on reading.

It is interesting we mention professionals in the interpretation of language. I think most people would consider irresponsible to believe 'pros' that mention things that would come about of these bills by direct action of these bills when in quite clear fact, those things are not themselves written in the bills.

Hence the need for reading. The language really isn't that complicated to understand.

it's a lot of pages?

double spaced ... 25 lines/ page ... approx average of ~8 words/ line ...

heck Louis L'Amour wrote longer short stories.

 Yes he did.

its not really that much reading isn't it?

not really ... more of a "dry" read.

network protocol reference guides/specs are more fun though ....

I think it would fit better with the far left than with those that benefit from the status quo.

In an experiment of one, [Warren] Buffet polled his coworkers to find out how their effective tax rate compared to his rate of 17.7%. The results of Warren’s poll: Buffett’s $60,000 a year secretary paid 30% of her income to the federal government and the average effective tax rate for the office mates who took the poll was 32.9%. Not one of the fifteen employees who took Warren’s poll paid a lower percentage of their income in taxes than Buffett’s 17.7% effective tax rate.

So, one of the richest men in America pays a lesser portion of his income in taxes than the middle and upper middle class people working for him. A flat percentage tax on income won't ever happen because those that can purchase legislation and have, in fact, purchased all these little loopholes simply won't let that happen.
