Help! Scheduling of Consulate Interview

Hi everyone!

Hope this message finds you all well. My wife's case was recently completed at the NVC. She is now awaiting the scheduling of her interview at the US Embassy in Manila. I just found out from the NVC that her interview will not be scheduled in September. This poses as a problem as the interview will most likely be in October or November.

The issue here is that we will be getting married again (already civilly wed) in late October and going on our honeymoon thereafter. What I'm scared about is that the NVC and Embassy might schedule her interview during the time of our wedding and honeymoon. We will be out of the Philippines for almost 3 weeks. So it may be possible that the interview is scheduled then.

Now, with that being said, originally we took the K-3 visa route and filed both the I-130 and I-129F. Both petitions were approved. However, it so happened that the I-130 was approved ahead of the I-129F. So we followed the CR-1 route.

Since the I-129F was also approved, the US embassy sent her a package for the K-3 visa. She is eligible to schedule her interview for the K-3.

My question is should we try to call the embassy and schedule an interview for the K-3? And once scheduled, call the embassy and ask if we can switch it to a CR-1 interview? This will help us plan around our wedding and honeymoon. I'm not sure if its possible since its the NVC that schedules all CR-1 interviews.

Another question would be, should I let the NVC know ahead of time that she will not be able to interview for the 3 weeks that we're not in the Philippines? I'm not sure if they will even note that on her case.

I would really hate to prolong not having her here in the US after our honeymoon. If anyone of you have solutions, I'm all ears. I really appreciate your help.

Thanks!

I would maybe call the embassy and explain your situation. I've seen others who followed both paths get the CR1 interview at the K3 interview date.

Why not just wait till 2nd week of Sept when NVC will schedule interviews for October and see what happens then?

If you get an interview date assigned this will help your plans a little.

If not, then call NVC and ask if you could pick the date for a K-3 interview and use it for CR-1?

Also, after NVC assigns interview date and once your file is in Manila USEM, you can always call the USEM and reschedule the interview date for earlier

Good luck and best wishes for the new wedding :P
