Oh boy.. I forgot about those little stalls with the battered fried banana slices... or those little donuts that just seem to arrive when you are out shopping and need something to eat...

He he he.. fresh longans here in Florida soon...

But the dragon fruit that we have growing here in FL is way smaller(size of a big orange) and nowhere near as sweet.. oh yeah and 5 bucks a pop... at least there is some decent fruit here...

Good luck on not eating them. They are good. I think maybe I should have made a post of worst foods eaten in Vietnam. Everything I ate was great, and I do not remember half of what it was I ate, then when someone posts a photo it brings back mouth watering memories!

Reading all your posts, makes me crave for Vietnamese food. :(

I miss eating Pho and Bon bo hue. And oohhh, the hot Lau De that makes you sweat while eating. And that goat breast that you cook on your table in low grill.

I wish I could find these in the Philippines. :(

Worst foods??

Ok, I'll admit I didn't eat it. Look at the brown streaked blob behind the shrimp in Phuong's rice bowl in the attached photo. Anybody want to guess what it is? Anybody?

It's an EGG!

Phuong tried to get me to eat it, but I flat refused. I don't care if it's the greatest tasting food on earth. Anything that looks that much worse after cooking than it did before cooking can't be good!

But Anh eat every day ăn sáng in khách sạn!

The hell I do! That doesn't look ANYTHING like an omelette!

I was saying egg when I saw the pic... tastes like funky chicken.. I have had the partially incubated chicken and duck eggs... some vinegar and salt and its game on... an acquired taste 4 sure

OK.. Am I the only guy that had never heard of 50-50 before going to VN? Holy #######! I figured out the deal after an hour... They waited until my glass was filled up then they did the 50-50 toast... must drink 50% of what you have in your glass when toast is made. seemed to me that someone had a deal going with the waiter to refill my glass at any possible occasion. I was being played!

Just down a whole glass once or twice and they will calm down. Especially if you're drinking some "whiskey."

Thats nothing. The guy in my avatar was my father in law and every meal I had to drink rice wine with herbs from large shot glasses one after another with him. Now this guy can down shots like it was water. I would try to sip mine and he would make me down it and refill. After the 6th or 7th one I was ready for bed. Even my mother in law used to yell at him to quit and he would cackle and pour another round.

I miss him a lot.
