I sent the I-130 package (with exhibits!) on Friday. Today I got a package from USCIS. I nervously opened it, and enclosed was my photo book (I spent all afternoon one day at a camera store doing this super cool book!) and a letter attached. Apparently they are unable to accept photo books! Well, they called it a photo album but that isn't what it is. So word to the wise...don't do this! Waste of time!

So...now of course they (USCIS) have zero pics of my hubby and me (except they have six binders of other stuff!). Is this a problem? I'm assuming the photo book will come handy at the NVC stage... or I'll send it to my hubby. I made two of them!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

See, I'm still getting all of this mixed up! Okay, I'll save it for the embassy since I'm going also.

At least I know they opened up my fedex box and took stuff out!!!!

And I meant to say they received my package last Friday-I sent it the day before!

Six binders?

The photo book is absolutely not necessary at the NVC stage - they want documents - not pictures. I guess your Husband can take it to the interview if it makes you feel better.

At least the photo books will be nice keepsakes for you two!

Oh and I have never heard of anyone receiving their evidence back from USCIS - this may be an indication that they have had enough of people sending mountains of papers to them?

I just want to say, I don't mean this to sound harsh at all, if it does. I have read many posts of people sending stacks of stuff to USCIS - it's really not necessary, that is all I meant.

Oh Trail, you can be as harsh as you want! I'm totally making fun of myself for doing all this work. I started doing all of this 3-4 weeks ago, and by the time I realized from the forum that it wasn't necessary at the first stage, I sent it all in anyway, because I had already spent so much time on organizing it all! And I know they send it on, so I didn't think it would hurt at all. I'll bring the #$)(#*$#)* photo book to the embassy when I go to the interview with my husband (I decided to make a vacation out of it and join him!). I'm sure they'll get a good laugh about it! They didn't send any of my binders back so that's good...haha

I did not send any photos to USCIS. I am also not sending any photos to NVC. The only stage where photos would be necessary are at interview.

Absolutely yes about the interview, but no - when it comes to USCIS. It says in I-130 instructions to send photos as a proof
