I arrived in the US (January 2009) with a K1 visa and got married in March 2009. After a few months of trying to adjust to the life here in the west, and trying to save up for the filing becoz we know its gonna be another dent in our pockets, I have started gathering the necessary documents for the AOS.

And my problem is, I have all the docus except for NOA... the only thing I have and I remember is getting a letter from the US Embassy in Manila, stating that we are eligible for a visa interview in Manila. Can anyone tell me if this is the NOA?

I have exactly the same problem you have ... I didnt save letters from them, I thought once I got my visa

I wouldnt need any letter like that.. I just included a letter explaining that I dont have that letter.

I actually saved all letters that came from them and I just didnt get anything that says its a "notice of approval".... Btw, we had a lawyer to file for us for the K1.

NOA is notice of approval. The USC would have gotten two of these. NOA 1 is reciept of funds by USCIS. NOA 2 is the actual approval of the petition.

The USC needs to call USCIS or go to INFO PASS meeting to ask for copies of the NOA s.

The NOA in question is the Notice of Action I-797 (commonly referred to here on VJ as the NOA2) is the one you got saying your petition was approved. (Who doesn't save this?)

You could try to include a copy of the k-1 visa, the I-94 and a letter explaining why you do not have the document - or file an I-824 to request a duplicate ($340).

Thanks for all your replies. Yeah I think we're missing a piece of document here. Im going to check on our lawyer today if he received the NOA since he was the one who filed during the K1 visa. Cross your fingers that he still has them. I dont want to pay another fee ($300+) just to get a copy of the darn thingy.

Best regards to everyone!

I never got a copy of my NOA1 and when I called CSC I was told they had send it to my Attorney of Record so I expect your lawyer has a copy. After I contacted my lawyer he sent me a copy.

The CSC would not issue me another copy so don't expect that will happen.

On the visa itself is the 'A' number so you do have that and will need it for the AOS.
