Hello I'm looking for information on how a joint sponsor can fill out the affadavit of support. I married a woman from Thailand in 2007 here in the US, we got our approval for I-129 and I-130 and are trying to get a K-3 visa. Now she has to have her interview in Bangkok, Thailand but I do not reach the criteria for affadavit of support and I need a joint sponsor. What do I and the joint sponsor need to do? Thank you

This is directly from the instructions for the 864 form ( affidavit of support ) from USCIS web site.

If you are using the income of persons in your household or dependents to qualify as a sponsor, you must also submit a separate Form I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member, for each person whose income you will use.

You fill out the 864 as the instructions indicate. The other sponsor uses the 864 A.

If you are trying for the K-3 you will use form I-134 and will submit it to the embassy. I'm not sure if you can use a co-sponsor for a K visa in Bangkok.

If you are going for CR-1/IR-1, follow the instructions given by Ning. You will submit that info to NVC if you go that route.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

In recent posts from V J members BKK has accepted & rejected co-sponsors in K 3 situations. They accepted them when the co-sponsor was a close family member in some cases.

Study carefuly the differences in the C R 1 & K 3 type visas & you will see the C R 1 is better & cheaper in the end. The major difference now is time.
