Ok I have a question, there seems to be some confusion about the I-134 Form Affadavit of Support that has to be filled out for our fiance. Now from my understanding, the reason we are filling out this form is to prove we are financially stable and that our fiance will not become a public charge in the U.S. (stated on lines 4 - 5 on the form) According to the form, it states that we have to certify that we are able and willing to support our fiance upon arrival. So therefore wouldn't it make sense on line 11 to check yes "I do Intend" to support? I'm not understanding why some are saying you are suppose to check "No I don't intend". Doesn't make sense to me...so everyone, take a look at the form and let me know your thoughts because the form clearly reads that you have to support them...... Thanks

Thanks, I looked at the example form and it says to put N/A, this question only pertains to tourist visa.

Also, one of my buddies sent me another link that says the same thing to not mark Intend of Not Intened, but to write N/A.

The question doesn't ask if you intend or don't intend to support your fiance. Signing the affidavit of support is what in and of itself obligates you to do so. The question you're referring to asks whether you intend or don't intend to make specific contributions of support, which means making a specific payment on a regular basis to your fiance (like paying him $300.00 every week for 18 months or providing food for 6 months or room and board for 1 years, etc). This question is primarily for sponsors other than the fiance or spouse, who agree to give a set amount of money, or give room and board for specific period of time (to support a visitor or someone on a work visa, etc.) It may also be for joint sponsors who are agreeing to provide support for a period of time, and for a set amount.

I answered I DO NOT intend to give specific contributions of support and everything was fine.

We were told to complete the I-864 form. Which is longer and it ask for more information. I think in all when it was completed it was like 50-60 pages....10 pages for the form itself, 12 pages for the tax statements (actually a few more pages because I attached the last three years of taxes) and the remainder was a year's worth of paycheck stubs and a letter from my employer.

I looked over the I-134 and have seen some discussions...it seems that they still ask for the same information that is included in the I-864. I also completed this mainly because I was advised to do so from the immigration service that we hired to help us ( )...that will be another discussion later...( ).

So which one is better? My husband has not gotten his interview date yet. It is just that I am a planner. Filling out those forms over and over and over and over again...actually took some of the stress from waiting for our approval letter. yes, I know it is mental :hehe:

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us...
