She just got out from the interview and called me to let me know the bad news, they required a police certificate in english language but she is living in taiwan she tried to send her old police certificate when she was in vietnam but translation company refused to do so that is because she is not living in vietnam, and she doesn't know any translation services in taiwan, i have no idea what to do, they didn't say pass or fail at the interview, they just told her to send in the police certificate in english, what 's that means? r they just giving her hard time or what? if she didn't have a police certificate she wouldn't be able to live in taiwan in the 1st place. , please help with some guidance.

hey i had my wife death certificate in urdu from pakistan and i did my own translation in the word processor and i got it notorized in wal mart and it was accepted by immigration. i had no problem with that and my wife yesterday showed in the manila embassy in interview and they accepted it, u can try doing it yourself and notorized it by someone and give it to the embassy and see what happen or wait till some one in VJ can give u better advice, abby n sheryl

There is no need or requirement to have the document notorised. A notory simply verifies the signature of the person signing the document not the content of the document.

The translation can be done by anyone qualified to do so. That qualification is that the person has the ability to translate the document correctly. Do not read something into this that isnt needed.

Below is an accepted method that has been used many times.

The certification format should include the certifier's name, signature, address, and date of certification. A suggested format is:

Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

Signature_________________________________

Date Typed Name

Address

They are not giving her a hard time. She must comply with the normal requirement. This should not be difficult in Taiwan due to the amount of English speaking people. I would think there are many translation services there as well. Google Taiwan English translation services & check.

No Problem as they are just going by the requirementa.

Easy to fix. If you have to just fly her to Vietnam and have her get it!

It doesn't mean she failed her interview, it means they cannot give her a decision until they have her police report translated. Do this, and get it back to the Embassy as soon as possible. Hope you hear good news!

She did not "fail", except she failed to prepare properly and the outcome was predictable. She needs to get her police certificate translated and get it back to the consulate. Translations can be done in many ways. If there is no one there that can translate it, get it done by someone here. She can email the copy of the police certificate to a translator here, the translator will prepare the translation and Fedex it to her. Not the cheapest route, but it works. Also have her check some universities there, often there is someone in a language department that can translate. The translation can be done by anyone as long as they certify they are competent in both languages and it is a true and correct copy. Foreign translation services can be a royal pain in the @ss because of foreign regulations on translators. The consulate has no such needs, as long as the person translating certifies it is true and correct.
