PLEASE, explain why they need a lawyer ? There are some good at different types of problems , if you find one always ask about what kind of cases he has deal with. If the problem is big ..then you want one that has dealt with simular problems.

Rosie and David

P.S. Sorry to hear you are in need of a lawyer ... life is rough enough without lots of complications.

My daughter Toree and her husband Rachid have had the WORST time with immigration!

They filed for a K1 visa and it was sent back to USCIS, where it expired (02/09).

She went to Morocco again in Dec 08 and they were married Jan. 09. She returned and they filed for the CR1....all the processing went smoothly. He was given an interview on 08/05, where it went smoothly until the interviewer (the male this time), noticed that my husband and Rachid are brother's. They then brought in a Moroccan gentleman who repeatedly told Rachid is was not halal to marry the daughter of his brother. Rachid tried in vain to explain that she is not, that there is only an 8 year difference in age between Toree and Said...but he said he could not make a decision, and would need to consult the Consular. All of our family and friends then sent emails and letters to the consulate and to the Governor of Colorado, the senator and our congressmen/women. They called him back on Tuesday where they told him:

He would not be touching U.S. soil anytime in the near future without the assistance of an attorney

They accused my husband of paying off my daughter to marry Rachid and bring him here (Please keep in mind, I took my daugther and son with me when we lived in Morocco for 3 months; they fell in love during the time that my husband and I were gone traveling to complete our marriage documentation. Rachid and my sister-in-law were her chaperones in Fes, while we were gone) They met BECAUSE of our relationship and trip to Morocco...but that was it!

He asked him, you are Muslim your wife is Christian who will name the children...Rachid said we already have picked out our favorite names.

He commented on the fact that Rachid's English is not perfect...Rachid tried to explain to him that he was nervous and tired of all this, and apologized that he could not make his point clear

Rachid asked him why in all 4 interviews he has gone through, why no one has ever concentrated on the relationship and marriage of him and Toree...but that the majority of questions were about me and Said (when we were married, why am I so much older than him, etc...). The interviewer stated he did not need to answer him

So far all the attorney's I have spoke to have stated they we were too forthright and honest from the beginning regarding the family connection. We know how this looks to the outside world, but it is just simply this: two young people met, they fell in love, married and started to plan for a future they thought they would be allowed to have. However, it does not appear that way. Now it looks like they will have to go to another country to live...it will hurt two families, and they will be alone, without any family support. We completed all the necessary information for them, he has passed ALL checks, yet without EVER delving into their relationship, looking at 1 picture, 1 email, 1 letter...nothing, the Moroccan Consulate has determined that their marriage is not valid!

There is not words to express our broken hearted Rachid and Toree are. This man, who would walk through fire for my daughter, who is 6'5" and one of the strongest men I know, collapsed outside the consulate. Some people helped him to a cafe, where he called my sister-in-law and told them "They took my heart today".

Sooo.. we NEED a VERY good immigration lawyer, and do not care in what state he is in.

ANY and ALL help any of you can give is appreciated MORE than you can know!

Type in Catholic Immigration Charities in your search engine and it should pull up quite a bit. There are alot out there and they're averge fee is $150-$500. I was going to go that route myself, but after reading alot on vj and other groups, I found that I could easily do it on my own, and as I got involved in it, found that it was very easy to do. Im not familiar with k3, but I am with k1, so if you every have any questions you can pm me. I personally dont think anyone would need a lawyer. At first, I almost hired a lawyer who wanted to charge me $1,800. Im so glad I did not go that route.

There really wasnt much of a story to read....

1. Needed a good immigration lawyer. (why? duno... didnt say, so as far as I know they are doing k1 or k3, it was kind of left in the air as to why they needed one, but in the event they were filing a k1 I thought I would add my thoughts in they're on hiring a lawyer vs' doing it on ur own, didnt see any harm in that)

As far as a story... there wasnt a story. So if you know the story, then maybe you can tell us.

Not trying to be sarcastic, but was just trying to offer my advise. Maybe it was kind of in left field, but not knowing the situation I tried and maybe they appreciated it.

 Her later post (see below) as to why they needed a lawyer looked very specific to me.

Hello Yvette I certainly understand your distress. I consulted a bit by telephone both Mr. Huang & Mr. Ellis. They are equally are knowledgable and both good at what they do IMO. I did not use either personally, it was too expensive and I was not sure they would ultimately be very effective at changing the mind of the moroccan consulate (which was my goal). I tried using the congess and senators offices also, and I faxed a letter to every senator, congress person, etc.....just in case telling them basically that I own a business, pay taxes, etcc..... and I deserved help from them...yadda yadda... Hey I was desperate! What were they gonna do black list my name? LOL. I sent the letters from friends and family (even husbands father) addressed to the consulate chief himself because I called the consulate and emailed the consulate everyday until I got the consulate chief himself and ..he actually listened to everything I said (calmly and respectfully of course) The consulate chief told me to send him everything I thought that might help addressed directly to him and he would call me if he had questions. My husband got a call that the consular chief wanted to talk to him personally. (this was after that disasterous interview with the infamous blonde lady..who accused my husband of being gay and using me for the visa etc...) my huisband got his visa 1 week after the interview with the chief. My husband also became very immotional when he got outside the consulate (I think it is the preasure release once you are outside) It is very stressful! I think our husbands and fiances do not suspect that the interviewer will sometimes really accuse them and interogate them so badly. The consulate feels you are GUILTY until proven innocent. If they can find or create anything out of anything you do or don't give them, they will. So with that in mind (you have your work cut out girl!) Try to think like the consulate and convince them that ....it was just fate that your daughter accompanied you to morocco and fell in love with the brother of your new husband. It is not Halal BTW...they were pulling his chain (you know that)....halal if it was an actual blood daughter of his brother perhaps. Olive
