I have been wondering the same thing myself- I believe "touched" means that the file was physically touched, but I am not sure how you would find that out.

Anyone??

Good, i am not the only one that doesnt know where to find that info or how to...some ppls have been "touched" 4 or 5 times...so i am a little confused.

Hope we can find out

Create a case portfolio at on the USCIS page using the link provided. Once you follow the instructions, you can log on anytime to view your case status. If there is a change in your last updated date, it is a touch. The most important touches are those that result in a change of case status such as from pending to approved . Not all touches mind you will result in a case status change. If you dont want to create a portfolio, simply click on case status online on the USCIS homepage, enter your receipt number and you will see your case. Hope this helps. Goodluck!!!!

When you register on the USCIS site to view the status of your petition online, sometimes the date will change. This means that someone in the office moved your file from one desk to another. Eveytimge the USCIS folks touch a file, they scan it in and therefore the status page is updated with the new date. Being touched doesn't really convey any information. Maybe they are working on it, maybe they spilled coffee on it and had to move it ito a new desk.

Personally my case remained untouched, ie the NOA1 date remained until the day that they approved it and sent me the NOA2.

So being touched is reassuring but no real measure of status. And, there are some folks whose online status never changed and she has her green card.

Never mind- I answered my own question (i think!) Once the case is approved via USCIS and goes to the embassy, nothing is listed. I do not have anything on my file since Feb '09 when it was approved here. We are now in AP hell and I am so dying for any tidbit of information!

Thanks!

ah. the longing....
