Long form birth certificate

So we sent our I-130 package last week finally! In preparation for the NVC piece, I believe one of the requirements is the beneficiary's long form birth certificate. Right now, she has this little ID card that's really basic looking and she says that's all she has ever had. Does she need to request a long form birth certificate and where exactly does she obtain that? Does it take awhile to get? Other than the tax documents, are there other items we should be gathering at this point?

yes u need the birth certificate and police clearance and the copy of the passport and the marriage licence. just wait and lots of people in vj will guide u more, good luck, abby n sheryl

If you scroll down it will show you examples of the birth certificate you need. I wouldn't recommend getting your police certificate right now as they expire and you can't be sure how long you'll spend at USCIS. You should wait a few months on that. Also it's the marriage certificate you need, not the license. A marriage license simply says you are allowed to marry, the certificate shows that you actually did.

Yup, you'll need the long form birth certificate - you will send it to NVC with the DS-230. You can google your province and 'long form birth certificate' to find out where you will apply for one.

I received a RFE for not sending my long-form birth cert..... I had sent in a certified copy but if wasn't right. It took me about 10days to get my long-form from the county courthouse i was born in....

So it looks like the Alberta Motor Association issues them, but they are pricey at $36 a piece. For the DS-230 form, how many actual copies do we need? I assume we have to submit an original long form certificate and not a copy but want to make sure we order just as many as we need. Is one sufficient? or will we need more later down the road for the interview?

You will need one original plus a copy to send to NVC (regular copy, not certified or notarized) plus keep a copy for yourself

You will get the original back at the interview
