Clubbing in Windsor but No Drinking Allowed

Going to celebrate my wife's sister's bday this weekend with a few people (she's turning 27), woohoo LOL. I've been told we're going for dinner and then to the clubbing strip to enjoy some good times. Only problem is I have to drive all the way home and put up with a potentially horrible border experience so I'll be sipping on some hard-hitting H20 LOL. I'm starting to cringe already thinking of trying to hang out at those places without having a little liquid courage in me haha.

That would suck. I'm going to be the DD when I go to Vfest in Canada next weekend. I am not really bummed about it though. I hope my friends make asses out of themselves so I can laugh at them. :D

Haha I saw that you could write 'asses' so I did a test for a s s and it was too good to be true.

Hahaha right on. Maybe I'll bring the ol' digital camera so I can make some videos, now all I'll need is to create a Facebook page to document everything publicly Lol.

Say Hi to Windsor for me - it's been a long time since I was last there!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

But, just think..... you'll be feeling great in the morning while they'll be hangin. Plus, just think of all the blackmail material you'll have stockpiled. Not to mention being able to hold that one over your wife's head for years to come. Them's big bucks, baby.

Hahaha all excellent points!

clubbing?? oh I was thinking seals!!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

If there is a "strip", why don't you just get a hotel room that night and stay over? You can walk or cab along the "strip" and then you could enjoy the festivities as well! Hope your SIL has a wonderful birthday, and you two have a great time as well.

I was actually thinking of doing this but upon finding out that the ol' SIL is in a horrible mood due to "getting way to close to 30" I don't think I want any part of spending the night near her after a few spirits have been enjoyed hahaha.

I'm trying to figure out where the clubs are now down there as the downtown is pretty much all closed up on Oulette St. now and deserted. I know of a few north of Wyndotte on Ouelette, and a few downtown here and there, but just was curious what the "strip" is now refered to?

When I lived there in the 80's and 90's for college and after graduation there were litterly a ton of bars and clubs right downtown, but now I don't see many anymore...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

I know there are still quite a few still on Oulette, none really my scene other than this little tiny place called the Bistro 507. I got to be really good friends with the owner and he was one of the two people from that place that I had at my wedding. There are still some places that aren't really my scene, Peppers, Woody's, and Bentleys to name a few. In the last few months my wife was in Windsor we started going to this place on Tecumseh, believe it was right by Central/Walkerish. Nice and laid back place, not too much dancing, just relaxing kinda place

Just like you said though, the downtown area has really died due to the economic crisis and the Michigan cops cracking down on those under 19 driving back home. I've even heard of a few people who had a designated driver but still got pulled over and the passengers who were under 21 getting consumption tickets for being drunk in the States after drinking legally in Canada LOL.
