7/11. Ok are we getting a pattern here? 7/11, 9/11. Will there be 1/11, 3/11? Or is it that they are picking certain numbers that could mean something? 7/11 is suppose to be lucky. 9/11...911. Or maybe it is JUST random, and we think we see a pattern.

As for traveling these days. Well, I'm scared to death of flying. Because of those kinda things. I'm afraid to leave my own house anymore these days. But something bad can happen at home too. So, really NO ONE is safe these days. :ranting:

Yeah, but that's why it's important in my opinion to not be afraid of death. I was very nervous about flying when I went to India since I hadn't flown since a small child, but I had to let go and take the motto "if it's my time to go, then it's my time to go" and trust God that whatever happens, happens (I know not everyone shares the same beliefs).

I agree with you. That was my first time flying EVER. I hear the biggest way to get over your fear is to face it. Well, I faced it, and I'm not really over it. I did it for Ryan, because I love him. And this was the only way we could be together. So, I faced a lot of my fears and went on about what I wanted to do. I wanted it so bad. And I figured, if I die, it wasn't meant to be. Fortunately, I had a safe flight both ways. And it just gave me more strength in our relationship. So, facing my fears brought Ryan and I closer in MANY ways.

Well I traveled on the 3/11 this year, and the 5/11 as well. Yikes. So, I guess it's NOT safe to say, "don't travel", but on the other end of line, it's not safe to say "stay at home" either.

7/11......

good call.

in further news, it's advised throughout the world to avoid travelling anywhere on the 11th day of any month.

The london bomb blasts were 7/7.

So don't travel on the 11th of any month or the 7th of any month and for good measure don't travel in month 7 (july) at all.

In the cities you have to worry about Muslim bombs, in the subburbs you have to worry about Hindu mobs hunting for men without foreskin and in the rural areas you have to worry about Maoist rebels who just want to blow up train track and disappear back into the jungle.

i'm not gonna ask.........

There actually have been cases where mobs have asked men to take their pants off so they could verify religion before making the kill-don't kill decision. Hindus don't circumsize, Muslims do. Like all generalizations, that one is not always true but people believe it.

What a valid way to determine who lives and who dies.

I guess these ppl consider themselves civilized??

Well I traveled on the 3/11 this year, and the 5/11 as well. Yikes. So, I guess it's NOT safe to say, "don't travel", but on the other end of line, it's not safe to say "stay at home" either. <<< This reply was actually suppose to go here. Sorry. Let's not get confused.

All terrorism in India is sponsored by Pakistan.

Melo,

Isn't that a bit simplistic? India has a huge problem with Islamic radicalism and yes, that is sponsored by both Pakistan and Saudi/UAE. However, India's terrorism problems don't end with Islamic extremists. There are Maoists who rule the countryside in places like Jharkhand and Telengana... they are homegrown, for the most part (they are inspired by China). And of course, you have the separatists in Nagaland who have been using terror as a means of war against the Indian military right from the get-go. And lastly, let's not forget India's home-grown brand of 'terrorism' .. the Shiv Sena and Bajrang Dal, etc. The riots in Gujarat were... terrorism, IMO.

NEW DELHI: The terror attack on Mumbai trains was carried out by Lashkar-e-Toiba and local Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activists and was designed to trigger communal conflagration in the country’s financial capital, intelligence sources said.

While still waiting for clues to emerge, top intelligence sources in New Delhi seem pretty sure the blasts on the trains were plotted by Lashkar modules which are increasingly collaborating with activists of SIMI, which boasts of strong pockets of influence across Maharashtra.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1733318.cms

Lashkar-e-Toiba is an Islamic terror organization with roots in the Pakistani part of Kashmir. SIMI is basically a university organization of Islamic students in India... it has gotten increasing radicalised over the years and I have been hearing whispers that it was only a matter of time before SIMI did something like this.

Lashkar denies hand in Mumbai, Srinagar terror attacks

Srinagar, July 11: The Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) tonight condemned and denied involvement in Mumbai serial blasts ...

[...]

“Blaming the Lashkar-e-Toiba for such inhuman acts is an attempt by the Indian security agencies to defame the freedom struggle in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

[...]

“We have launched jehad against the Indian security forces in Jammu and Kashmir...We do not believe in killing innocent civilians belonging to any part of the world,” the Lashkar spokesman said.

Yes I agree with what you have said; perhaps that was somewhat simplistic. However, the north-eastern states have limited their terror to those states. Again the Maoists are limited in their reach (though no doubt they would love to extend it). The Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal and the VHP along with the RSS & BJP should have their members tried and executed for the role they played in the riots in Gujarat.

Pakistan sponsored terrorism has targetted Bombay and Delhi in principle.

Pakistan encouraged the Sikh insurgency back in the 80s. Then they focussed on the Kashmiri people. Pakistan is responsible for the creation of the Taliban (with support from Bush senior amongst others). There was a solid Pakistani connection in 9/11 and 7/7. There have been training camps in Pakistan for just this purpose - to unleash terror. At first they limited themselves to India... but have now become one of the global leaders in sponsoring terrorism.

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Vipul is ok. Thanks for thinking about him, Christina. I just want him back here with me now. I was really upset after this happened because he was in that region just a few days ago and travelling by train. It really hit too close to home for me. I miss him worse now than I have been before. I've been praying for him though and we've been talking every night. Even though I know he's now in Delhi, I can't help but worry what's next. Anyways, not trying to be dramatic - just worried and missing Vipul.

Jamie,

Glad to hear he's ok. I still have not heard anything from my cousins in Mumbai who use that line to go to work. My wife is waiting to hear from one of her friends, too.

On the subject of numbers.... 7 bombs in 11 minutes I hear.

CAIR Condemns Mumbai Bombings

Group seeks meeting with Indian ambassador to offer condolences

(WASHINGTON, DC, 7/11/06) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today condemned a series of bomb attacks on suburban commuter trains serving the city of Mumbai, India, that left at least 135 dead and many more injured. CAIR is also seeking a meeting with the Indian ambassador in Washington, D.C., to offer the Muslim community’s condolences for the loss of life.

In a statement, the Washington-based Islamic civil rights and advocacy group said:

“These senseless and brutal bombings, like similar attacks in London and Madrid, must be condemned and repudiated by people of all faiths. Those who carry out such crimes only serve to harm any cause they claim to represent. We offer our sincere condolences to the loved ones of those killed or injured and call for the swift apprehension and prosecution of the perpetrators.”

CAIR also noted that the Indian Muslim Relief Committee (IMRC) is collecting donations to aid the victims of today’s attacks. SEE: http://www.imrc.ws/
