Yep. That's a good idea, mlybrand...

It's SO easy to get riled up about misinformation.

All I know is what we sent and that what we sent caused us no RFEs or any problems so... but every case is unique...

And I'll take the black jube jubes please....

Thank you.

:D

Okay. For my part, I am dialing it back down a notch (absent-mindedly munches a yellow jube jube).

Thanks for helping us to be unconfused.

I was getting scared with the marriage certificate thing.

Thanks, sweetcitywife

Guys?

I don't think this is a regular beneficiary/petitioner form. First. Is it the AOS or is it the IV forms?

If it is AOS, none of the items mentioned are needed.

If it is the IV package, all things relevant to the beneficiary only are needed. All things. Nothing at all from the Petitioner. This is normal mandate.

What the OP has queried is either an irregular case OR a co-sponsors case or some such thing.

Please. Just read the forms that you've received in regard to YOUR case and follow those guides. Its' way too easy to get baffled.

What we need is more info from Anja. This does NOT sound like any NVC package we filled out. Anja, if you're around, what package are you at? What are the from numbers?

Then people will be able to help you. Now we've just succeeded in confusing ourselves! :)

Yea, you only need stuff for your husband....From what the NVC operator said the DS230 is all about the beneficiary but like LGG said it wouldn't hurt to send in your divorce decree. I will be sending it just in case when I send in the DS230. Its better they have more info than less.

If you're doing the CR1 Paris, all you need is your wedding cert for you and your husband now. That is all you need. If you happen to have your divorce decree, sure send that too but since USCIS has already seen it, it is likely you'll need it again.

Take a breath. It's going to be okay I am sure you have all your things in order.

Once again, my caveat is this:

WE did a CR1, we had no RFEs for OUR case. I can and will help as best I can but all I really k now for sure is the stuff related to our case.

Yep. That's a good idea, mlybrand...

My head is spinning so much. I'm so glad I have blue jubejubes to munch on right now!

I checked out the embassy website for my husband's location (he'll be doing his in Naples because he lives near Italy right now-instead of going to Helsinki). They want our marriage certificate and any divorce decrees for the applicant (lucky he has none!). I'm not going to worry about my past marriage certificate! I think checking your own embassy's website will give you the answer.

Then again, I'm the 7 lb. fedex box I-130 petitioner. So my own advice is going against my "send everything now including the kitchen sink " theory!!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

Yes, this is correct as your husband is the beneficiary -- they will require his previous divorce decrees and such as for you? The USC, at this point, they are done looking at your past maritial history -- they only needed that at the USCIS stage...

We didn't send kitchen sink, per se but I tossed in my husbands divorce decree at hte last second... I also included a photo stat of my small form BC but really? I followed their list...

It wasn't so bad at all, really...

The embassy in Lima does not specifically indicate the requirement for past marriage cert. It is pretty vague really about needed documentation. It would appear that the previous marriage cert requirement does not apply in my case, but I will know when I get there. Just hope I have enough lead time to get stuff from Bogota... I will probably start now, just in case...

I checked the official NVC Homepage "Documents The Applicant must submit" and to my understanding that is what is required for the DS 230

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html.

Sorry, I had not planned to confuse people.
