My CFO Question

Good evening all.

We were just wondering what happens to someone that show up at the Manila airport without a CFO Sticker. Where do they stop you?

1. Ticket Counter before issuing Boarding Pass?

2. 1st Immigration checkpoint behind where you pay the Airport tax?

3. 2nd Immigration checkpoint Just before you board the Plane to USA?

4. Immigration checkpoint in USA after the plane? (Yikes!)

Mostly I'm wondering if the airline (PAL for me) would stop you and give you a chance to refund your ticket. I have been hearing rumors here in the Philippines that this person and that left Philippines for USA without the CFO Sticker.

Cheers...

The ground handling crew for the airline you are going to board upon check-in will check your CFO sticker. And the truth is, they are now very strict with this policy. PAL does have a refund, but it will depend on th circumstances. If you cancel on the day of the flight, you will have to be cahrged a cancellation fee which will be a big chunk of the original fare.

PAL's ticket counter if you're still getting your ticket, or check-in counter if you already have it.

but why risk it, getting a CFO sticker is pretty easy, you can get it in half a day (if you start very early). your name also gets officially recorded in the list of Filipinos who legally left the country.

although it's possible that it wont be checked, this happening is based purely on luck so better to get it and have one less hassle on your flight

Why would one even consider trying to leave without the sticker? After having completing this long and grueling process, getting your visa and then just leave the last step of not going to the CFO and trying to leave without the sticker to chance, simply makes no sense whatsoever.

I also know that you cannot leave the US without the sticker.,

But i know a filipina in a fil-am forum that was able to leave the PHilippines without the sticker. Talking about lucky.. :)

question: do u only have to take the seminar once, and the sticker and certificate will be valid for life?

Hello,

In regards to CFO seminar, does my wife have to make an appointment for this service, or can she just show up? My wife is expecting her visa via AIR21 delivery this wednesday and I am trying to get her on a flight friday night. Basically, if she can be in Manila by thursday, will we have time to take care of this? Also, what forms will she need to bring with her?

Please, if anyone can help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated :)

She can do both the seminar and get the sticker the same day. Total cost is P650. She has to be there early in the morning. I think they open at 8am.

There used to be 2 places in Manila to to the trip. You could/can get the sticker at only one place. Best to find out which one so she doesn't have to run around Manila.

Someone on here should know.

Have her take all documents that apply to your gase. Especially divorce decree if applicable. Is she 21 or under?

Hi jamster! Have you thought about your wife having the CFO in Cebu? It is so much better and she doesn't need to book a flight for that. Also the CFO seminars and process is Cebu is so much easier. You don't have to book an appointment to have the seminar and get the sticker. Just to be on the safe side though, make sure she brings with her the relevant documents that she used for the visa interview. If you want to hear about my experiences wth the CFO, you may click on the link at the bottom of my signature.

Hope this helps. IF there is any way I can help for your wife in Cebu, let me know.

Thanks for the advice, but it looks as if my wife will have to do her CFO in Manila. She packed all of her things for the US on her last trip to Manila for our sons CRBA appointment and she left everything there, including her documents from the visa interview. Oh well, as long as I can get her on a flight to Manila thursday morning, and hopefully (fingers crossed) she can fly here to the US on friday night :star:

Hey Jim. Make sure Sterling knows what city and state you were born in. That's one of the first questions they asked Karen at her CFO. Kinda odd but I'm sure nothing surprises you by now. Anyway. I'm really glad all is going as planned and you guys will be together again very soon. PM me if you have specific questions about the CFO as Karen will be happy to answer them. Take care. Mike

Jamster: I see. I would suggest you don't book a flight until the visa packet is received. You don't want to waste away money for cancellation and rescheduling, just in case.
