I've tried searching for this topic, but have failed, so excuse me if it's been discussed.

Our situation is as follows:

My wife and I have been together for 6 years, married since last summer. We've got the i-130 approved and our case has been completed at the NVC and awaiting our interview date in Montreal. Unfortunately, we've heard bad things about Montreal (long waiting times for interviews) and have officially been told that it won't be scheduled in September - and obviously not guaranteed to be October either.

My wife is losing her mind - living with her parents, not working as a PT, being away from a "real life" with me in Wisconsin. She wants to come visit.

Can she? I know there's some business called dual intent. This isn't her intent, she just wants to visit and do SOMETHING while she waits to hear about an interview. Will the border agent automatically deny her, or will she be treated as any other Canadian - has to prove ties, she'll return to Canada, etc.. Do they know that she's waiting for CR-1 interview? If she tries and is turned away, does that negatively impact our chances of CR-1?

Thanks!

Yes your wife can visit, yes she should bring strong ties to Canada, they should treat her like any other Canadian but her entrance into US is not guarenteed. As the wife of a USC and an approved I-130 clearly she has immigrant intent (dual intent does not apply to your case at all). It will be up to the CBP as to if she is admitted and for how long. If she is denied entry it will not have any impact on the Cr-1 (she will likely be asked about it at the interview however). Tell your wife to be confident in her answers, to tell the truth, and to bring ties to Canada

Good luck
