When my husband sent our I-130 package, he sent CERTIFIED TRUE XEROX (PHOTOCOPY) FROM ORIGINAL marriage contract from local registry office (Quezon City Hall in Manila) because we still didn't have the authenticated copy from NSO that time. I already have the authenticated copy now (with NSO seal and I already sent him) though it took almost 4 months. I was just wondering if they (USCIS) need the authenticated copy or certified true copy was enough? We've been waiting since May 09 and I hope we're not waiting for RFE because of this. Thanks peeps!

I think you are alright, so long as it is a certified true copy. They will ask the NSO copy again during NVC so there's no need to worry.

If you get an RFE, just email the NSO copy to your husband (or mail it out now) and he can forward the copy to USCIS.

For now, there's really no need to panic or worry. Just keep praying that the NOA2 will come to your mailbox soon.

Good luck!

We used the certified copy to submit the I-130. Later once we got the NSO original we used that when requested. We got no RFEs.

When we still had our US Immigration Attorney on retainer, at first he advised us that the Certified True Copy (CTC) of our Marriage Certificate. When we got it, they told us we were misinformed, and that the NSO Copy of the Marriage Certificate was needed for the I-130. We were very disappointed and very angry.

It was here on VJ when we learned that the CTC of the Marriage Certificate from LCR would suffice for the I-130 filing.

Boy, that made me even more disappointed and more angry!

We could have filed in January, when we had the CTC Marriage Certificate...my husband and I would have been together by now. :( We wound up firing our lawyers and then filing the I-130 in May. :crying:

VJ has been such a blessing so far...

Good luck on your journey...hope ours ends soon (on a very positive note!).
