His claims are nonsensical as well as factually and historically inaccurate, begging is not a modern phenomena, far from it, begging is endemic in societies where the government does not have welfare programs as far back as you can look into history.

I just think some people take the idea of rugged individualism to an extreme and justify that POV by trying to portray others as being on the other side of the extreme, where the government owns everything. To them, there is no happy medium, only the two extremes, which is why we keep hearing the Red Scare rants echoed and parroted over and over again.
