Honestly, I'm not exactly sure what it was but it had to do with proving that my husband had never been out of Egypt. The husband had to go to the passport office to get some sort of paper. It took like 2 weeks to get. A few members here have had to deal with it but I haven't heard about it for awhile.

What is a "movement" certificate?

Well considering Cairo is well known for giving AP, Ahmed and I are preparing ourselves for that. Although my husband has left Egypt many times, including coming to the U.S. So, inshaAllah this "movement" certificate won't make a difference or delay things for us. Ugh...I hate this whole immigration process!!!

The Movement Certificate is usually supposed to take 2-3 weeks. Its a paper stating whether they've travelled out the country or not. Not sure why they would require it for some and not others. Adam and I were played for 4 months worth of "hoping" to get it, until finally the Embassy called him, asked for it and we stated why we never received it after 4 months of harassment, then they either got it themselves or did without it bzc Dec 31st 2007 visa issued, Jan 1st visa in hand.

Im actually going to paste on here my message to and from the Embassy back in Dec 2007 regarding the Movement Certificate. I hope no one goes thru what we did for that piece of paper!

Dear Madam,

The visa was issued today, you husband may expect the visa be the end of the week.

Consular Staff,

How are my husband and I going to know when the Embassy obtains the Movement Certificate for him? We have been waiting for nearly 4 months for the paper and the Passport Office has not given it to us! What is going on that the Egyptian passport office has been asked 2 times by us and now by the Embassy? My husband went to the Embassy on Dec 17th and gave his passport to you and I want to know how long we will be waiting again for the Movement Certificate.

Im sending your office the copies of when I was in Egypt with my husband and we applied together for his paper back in September.

And I have also asked my Senators to contact Mr Richard Hermann.

Thank you,

Tamara Dyson Abdel Samad

Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Samad

This is also what we had dealt with back in 2007 concerning the Movement Certificate. After 4 months of waiting, begging, pleading and finally getting the Consul General of the Embassy involved back in 2007, heres what Mr Richard Hermann wrote my Senator.

December 05, 2007

Dear Senator Chambliss:

I am writing in reference to your e-mail message dated December 3, 2007, concerning the non-immigrant (K3) visa case of Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Samad, the husband of your constituent, Ms. Tamara Lynn Dyson, case number CRO2007xxxxxx.

A movement certificate from the Egyptian government is one of the most frequently requested documents. We have not experienced a case where an applicant failed to obtain a movement certificate. The movement certificate is mandatory for processing Mr. Abdel Samad’s immigrant visa case. We suggest that he approach the Egyptian Passport Authority again and place a new request for this certificate. It usually takes the Egyptian Passport Authority two weeks to issue the certificate.

I hope this information is helpful in responding to your constituent’s inquiry. If I can be of further assistance in any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Richard C. Hermann

Consul General
