Exactly. It was fairly obvious from the very early stages that there was not going to be a reform bill that will have bi-partisan support. The GOP played for time to get the propaganda machine up and running - nothing more and nothing less. I said a long time ago that any effort to get GOP support for a true reform bill is futile and should be abandoned.

Unfortunately, as the political landscape stands, I think you are right. Now is not the time to change public thinking on 'us vs them'. They have the steam roller, they needed to put it in motion.

i never watched fox news until i joined VJ. i figured ' if X & Y hate it...it must be good'...they were right, it is awesome....America agrees....must be why its the #1 cable news network.

Seriously, you think Fox news is good? What exactly do you think is good about it? The 'in depth' interviews? The dogged journalistic integrity? Or just the hot babes? Personally, I think they are pretty ugly and use too much make up, but then they are not catering to my tastes of course.

You don't think news is/should be about accessing information then? Just massaging your preconceptions? I see...strange but that seems to be the American way.

I don't dislike any woman because of their appearance, that's silly. As for intelligence, they may or may not be, it's not that easy to render an opinion because they are not given any opportunity to display intelligence.

I have nothing against people making a good living, they all do the job they are contracted to perform and do it extremely professionally - I just don't think the job they are contracted to perform is to deliver anything that can be described as 'news'.

I'm just curios if you like it for entertainment or accessing information? If the former, then more power to you, whatever floats your boat, if the latter, then you are totally misguided, it doesn't supply very much in the way of information just a few sound bites and tons of meaningless chatter.

Do you really believe there's no bias in the media except at Fox? Who do think writes the news on the other channels- robots? Check the avowed party affliation of reporters at least since 1972 and see what you find. He's a clue, Fox didn't exist then so they aren't solely responsible for the affliations.

That's the assumption, how stupid. No Alien, I don't really watch any tv news because it's all much of a muchness. I rely on reading newspapers online and listening to talk radio, and not 'shock jock' style, that's not my thing.

I did 'sample' them all when I first got here of course. I got over the whole American TV news thing very quickly with such choice news items as 'the car chase' and 'wild fire'. The coverage is ludicrous, mind numbing in its never ending banality. I imagine most news is put on as 'wallpaper' in gyms and the like.

i watch fox because i got tired of the obama network..aka nbc. & it is entertaining watching all the far left on VJ go on & on about the evil fox news....so i guess its news & entertainment.
