Anyone has an idea how long it usually takes for the approval if a USC parent sponsors a married child who is above 21?

I directed the person to the processing time of USCIS but they weren't content to see it at the website and want to hear it from someone who may have went through it..Any information?

By "approval," I assume you mean eligible for a visa. Approval of a I-130 petition does not mean a person is eligible immediately for a visa. An approved petition must wait for an available visa in a particular category. Approval can occur many years before a person is eligible for a visa.

My married brother from Vietnam is currently scheduled to interview at the HCMC consulate for his immigration visas. The I-130 petition was filed in Oct. 2000. His petition was approved in Aug. 2001 and forwarded to the NVC to await for an available visa in his category, F3 (USC petitioning for a married child).. His interview is scheduled for Oct. 2009. If there are no complications, we hope that his family will be issued visas immediately after the interview. The process takes about 9 years.

Look at the Visa Bulletin to see how long people who are eligible for visas now have been waiting. There is no way to predict how long a wait a person who is petitioned for today will have to wait. We can only gauge it by past wait time. A USC parent who petitions for a married child (regardless of age) will be in the F3 family preference category. The dates listed are called the Priority Date (PD - when the petitioned was filed). If the PD is current, then those beneficiaries are eligible for visas. So in the F3 category for most of the world, the PD is Dec. 15, 2000. There are different dates for India, mainland China, Mexico and the Philippines. http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin...letin_1360.html

Sorry I gave you the wait time for a unmarried child over 21 of a USC. That will teach me to read the post correctly..
