ya, I use to buy cards from www.ctacard.com. I printed records of all cards I purchased from them, from april 2008 when we started our communication.

I hope that helps.

Some of the stricter embassies say that having the used phone card doesn't prove who you called. You need a card that keeps a record of who it was used to call. All to complicated for me so I just used my regular phone.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

We provided, roughtly, two emails, and chat messages from each month, january through July. we provided, I think two or three snail mails ( I'm not sure on that, but definitely, more than one) and I think two cards too.

On the list of "Requested Documents", they checked the box that reads:

" We need further evidence of the relationship".

(i)additional proof of a relationship over time.

additional phone records, emails, instant messages, cards, letters

(ii) Proof of petitioner's trip to Ghana in 2008.

( I thought they'll look in the original documents sent to them from NVC for this proof. copies of boarding passes, passport with stamps were all in there)

First off take a deep breath and READ what they wrote:

They are looking for more evidence, it sounds like you only provided a sample of evidence, not all of it. If you did not have more then you might have a problem.

Second they are looking for the proof of your trip, when we filed, I had to re-include all that information when I sent the packet into the embassy, along with having her bring it into the embassy with her. I don't think they really look at the information that NVC sends, mainly because they are looking for different information then what is included when you file.

No where does it say please include more evidence of relationship for 2008, just show proof of your trip.

ya, I'm really taking a deep breath too. My only concern is that, when my fiancee and I started our relationship in april 2008, initially, we did not write letters or cards to each other, because it had been over 10yrs since we've heard from or seen other, we were on the phone almost everyday, from april 2008 to november 2008 and all have to proof that is the invoice I printed showing purchases from april 2008 through some first week of jan 2009. She didn't know much about computers either so there was no instant messaging either. But through her brother's help we managed to exchanged some pictures quite a bit. nothing much said in the email but at least it shows "from" my address "to" her address.

So if they're looking for letters, cards, chat messages, from 2008, I absolutely don't have it and that's just got me very very concerned. Sigh.

Regardless, we're still gathering more letters, chat messages, cards, etc. till she goes back in December. Wish me luck folks. I really need it.

Just a thought: Lacking any other evidence to show perhaps you can get some sworn affidavits from family and/or friends that can attest to the fact that you two were speaking frequently by phone during that time period.

Thanks for the thought. I think it's a good idea. At this point I'm willing to pull or do anything to prove to them that we have a legitimate relationship.

How do I get these sworn affidavits? Should I ask my friends/relatives to go to court and swear to this affidavit before a judge or it's something I write for them to sign?

Thanks for your input.

So, my fiancee had her interview this morning. She answered all questions correctly but now they want more emails, snail mails, cards, chat messages, and proof of when I was in ghana.

I thought showing copies of my boarding pass, and passport copies with stamps, which I provided with the initial petition was enough to show that I was in ghana.

When my fiancee and I started talking in april 2008. We spent more time on the phone than sending emails and chat messages. It was after I visited her and came back to the States in January '09, that's when we started more emails and chat messages. But now they want evidence from 2008, damn it.

We provided, roughtly, two emails, and chat messages from each month, january through July. we provided, I think two or three snail mails ( I'm not sure on that, but definitely, more than one) and I think two cards too.

It takes so long to even get one letter to Ghana via UPS first class. So we couldn't speed up the snail mail process as fast as we wanted to. It cost too much to mail one snail mail via express too.

You'll think, the embassy, will consider all that, but I guess not.

So now they want her to come back with more evidence. What should I do folks?

Should I get Minnesota senator involved? But who is best at dealing with immigration issues?

Franklin's office or Amy klobuchar's office?

I need your advice, please.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I would try and follow as much as possible the request that they ask for.

Did you visit her in 2008? Or was Jan '09 the first time?

They want concert evidence of your visit - even if you included with the initial application. Get your boarding passes, hotel receipts, ATM receipts, photos together, everything.

They are NOT asking for specific 2008 emails - they want proof of an on-going relationship. Sounds like you have more to provide for 2009.

You also said you knew each other 10 years ago??? Do you have any proof of that?

Good Luck!!!

Brother Anh has provided you an outstanding idea. Try it this way: Ask family and friends to write one-page statements to attest to the validity of the relationship during the time period in question (and through the present). Simply remind them of the correct spelling of your SO's name, and give them the sense of what you're trying to accomplish, but beyond that, their sincere, truthful words can be their own.

The letter should be addressed to "U.S. Embassy - Accra, Ghana" (or the precisely correct information). Ask each person to type or print out the letter on their personal letterhead (including their complete contact information -- this is crucial!), and to take it to a notary public, in front of whom they'll sign it. (Most banks have a notary who will do this at no charge for bank customers; if not, the fee is reasonable.) If someone cannot get his letter notarized, that's OK; just get hard-copy, signed letters.

Get as many letters as you can from YOUR people -- I had 13 or 15 from mine (for other reasons). It really helps if one or more is ex-military or a minister. A maximum of 3 or 4 from your SO's people will be more than enough (too many from them can actually be counterproductive); their language should be extremely formal and factual, and definitely be notarized or appostilled or whatever is the customary certification in Ghana.

Collecting and presenting these letters could turn the tide for you, as they did for me. Also, I 100% recommend that you be on the premises for the interview -- if you're not allowed IN the actual interview, you can have your SO show your passport to the CO. In my instance, I was ordered to appear at my consulate (for a surprise Stokes interview), but if you are there voluntarily, it will score more positive points than you can imagine.

You can do this, si man!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

This is a really good idea. I really appreciate it!

I'll on the premises for her next appointment.

Does it have to be on a letterhead? Most of my friends don't have personal letterheads.

thanks for your help.

Yes, I visited my fiancee in 2008 prior to starting the K1 application process. Initially, all I knew was that you must have seen each other prior to starting the application. So, we only talked and talked on the phone all the time. No chat messages, letters, cards, from 2008. We do have emails though, of pictures we exchanged. But when I print these emails, it only shows the file attached to the email. the pictures themselves don't show up on the print. I'm not sure if that'll be a problem.

We started writing letters, cards, etc. in 2009.

Also I've been in the states for about 13yrs now. My fiancee and I grew up together in the same neighborhood. We were not dating back then. That's what I mean by knowing each other 10yrs ago. We only started our relationship april 2008 when I called her.
