So, my fiancee had her interview this morning. She answered all questions correctly but now they want more emails, snail mails, cards, chat messages, and proof of when I was in ghana.

I thought showing copies of my boarding pass, and passport copies with stamps, which I provided with the initial petition was enough to show that I was in ghana.

When my fiancee and I started talking in april 2008. We spent more time on the phone than sending emails and chat messages. It was after I visited her and came back to the States in January '09, that's when we started more emails and chat messages. But now they want evidence from 2008, damn it.

We provided, roughtly, two emails, and chat messages from each month, january through July. we provided, I think two or three snail mails ( I'm not sure on that, but definitely, more than one) and I think two cards too.

It takes so long to even get one letter to Ghana via UPS first class. So we couldn't speed up the snail mail process as fast as we wanted to. It cost too much to mail one snail mail via express too.

You'll think, the embassy, will consider all that, but I guess not.

So now they want her to come back with more evidence. What should I do folks?

Should I get Minnesota senator involved? But who is best at dealing with immigration issues?

Franklin's office or Amy klobuchar's office?

I need your advice, please.

We got the same request regarding correspondence from the earliet part of our relationship. I just sent copies of every single thing. Printed every chat log, email, & sent all the phone records that I could gather.

It sounds like the CO wants to see more proof of you together in Ghana during that trip. Again, give everything that you can.

You need to respond to the RFE before the Senator's office will get too involved. The Senator's office doesn't have the information requested, you and your fiancee do. Gather it all and submit.

Best of luck.

so what is the problem? that you do not have anymore proof of relationships for show?

or that, it costs too much money and you cannot send?

email/fax/gifts also count. phonebills also work. send each other SMS and ask your finance to show the phone with SMSs.

I noticed that you did not mention photos. Do you have photos in front of land mark locations during this time frame? Do the photos by chance have a date stamp on the film on the back? It could just be they want to see some photos of your visit to further go with the written evidence.

Just a thought, if you already included photos of that time period and they are still asking for more, then I am sorry, sounds like you just have to print more crud out. /sigh

I don't have a problem providing them with more 2009 evidence. We have already given them everything we have, photos, chat messages, emails etc. They want her to come back in Dec. I'm sure we can gather some evidence til then.

But our 2008 evidence is just phone records that we talked to each other everyday. No snail mails, chat messages, etc. We started talking april 2008 so our phone records shows just that, nothing before april.

Besides, it takes so long to get even one snail mail to ghana. it cost about $34 to send one letter via express. I'm not sure how many letters and cards per month they are looking for. But if I have to send at least two letters and cards via express each month for about four months, at $34 each. Wow.

So you think it's too early to get my senator involved here?

Satisfying USCIS is one thing, satisfying the Embassy/Consulate is often quite another.

This is a critical stage (a make or break situation) so you need to be exact and prudent in how you guys respond. I would start by gathering every piece/scrap of evidence you can - pile them on your desk and begin evaluating them. Ask your fiancé to do the same and together, put together as much evidence as you can.

As for the senator's office - am not sure how they could assist at this time - they will very likely simply get the same response as you have "we're waiting for evidence." Not much they could respond to with that. Both Senators will have staff members who deal with this type of thing so chose either one.

If you haven't already, check out the Embassy Info section for Ghana Reviews to perhaps get some inside tips.

I agree, respond first to the request before getting them involved.

The thing is, We have given them everything we have possibly gathered since we started talking april 2008. All photos we provided. all chat messages, emails, phone records, have been provided. We really don't have any 2008 evidence that we haven't already provided to them. that's what I'm worried about.

Will attending her next interview with her work? maybe? 'Cos like I said, we have provided everything we have. they said most of our evidence are from 2009 and they want some 2008. When we started talking april 2008, most of our conversations were on the phone. She doesn't have easy access to computers so talked more on the phone till after my visit. so we started chating and emaill beginning jan. 2009. I did write one or two letters to her in 2008. The letter made to the country but she never got it. they dropped the letter in the wrong box at the post office in ghana. Yes, the postal system in ghana is that bad. I'm just not sure how I can get that 2008 chat messages I don't have to them. sigh

OK...let's back up and start from the beginning.

What (EXACTLY) does the notice from the Embassy/Consulate say? (Exactly - not what you think it means...)

I've asked her to scan and email me a copy of the paper. I'll let you know soon as I get it.

On the list of "Requested Documents", they checked the box that reads:

" We need further evidence of the relationship".

(i)additional proof of a relationship over time.

additional phone records, emails, instant messages, cards, letters

(ii) Proof of petitioner's trip to Ghana in 2008.

( I thought they'll look in the original documents sent to them from NVC for this proof. copies of boarding passes, passport with stamps were all in there)

so this is all it saids on the white paper they gave her.

any take on that?

What If go with her to the second interview. Will that be enough proof?

My husband gave the embassy over 300 pages of emails im and texts. 2 or 3 is not going to cut it. You need to give them pictures anything you can think of. Load them with everything you have, more is better. I flew to Ghana 2 months ago and they will not help you. If you go to the interview they will not let you in the room with him. I would contact your senator, it can not hurt! I am in MD and have contacted mine as they set a k3 interview for my husband in January so I am now pursueing the CR1 and the senators office is trying to make sure the cr1 interview will take the k3 and it don't get held up another year or to nothing is gaurenteed. I hope you have more emails and lots of pictures. Best of luck. I know they are mean as hell from first experience.

Thanks!

I'm only concerned about their request for 2008 chat messages, letters, etc. which we don't have. When we started our relationship, I didn't know much about this petition thing. So from april 2008 through late November 2008, our main means of communication was calling each other. that's all. perhaps one or two times that we sent pictures to each other. So, only evidence we have from 2008 are records of the phone cards I purchased.

We can provide them with more 2009 evidence for her second interview. But not so much about 2008. That's what I'm worried about.

They also said they want "proof of petitioner's trip to Ghana in 2008"

I'm curious. Do local embassies look into the original petition that NVC sends to them? Because, that petition clearly contains proof of my trip to Ghana.
