i can very much relate to all this...and it's a very nice gesture when your foreign fiance asks for your hand in marriage, to show respect to your filipino parents

respects begets respect.. throught his gesture he gained their respect.

im glad my family love jamie even more..

Congratulations!! I did the traditional ritual in person.

But, I refused to pay the dowry!! :jest:

hehehe... no need to pay the dowry.. just send chocolates!

I asked her parents in person. It seemed just as nervous for them as for me i think. It was all cool though and they seemed happy that i did it. The main thing was trying to explain the whole K1 process. I told them we will come back ASAP and have a wedding in Cebu so all of her family can come.

I also gave her dad a boar tusk necklace i made.

We joke about it now.

Me: "Me give you boar tusk necklace for daughter!"

Him: "HHMMMM, Good trade! Take her and go!"
