Taking on the motherly instinct and reading some recent sad threads, don't forget you have to file to remove conditions in two years and USCIS won't remind you and if you don't the S.O. could get deported!

/worrywart for our fellow August 2009 VSC filers and anyone else reading this...

Thank you for the reminder, Justine... because I often get myself talking with James as if after we are back together, the process is over! And it is so not over... the waiting to be together is, but then we still need to do so much stuff to keep ourselves together in the same country! I know many more people feel the same way, and I believe this happens because we apply in first place to marry our loved ones, not for immigration! The immigration is the consequence of our love and wedding, one of us have to move countries.

So thank you again for the reminder, it is something me and James do sometimes, and it is good to share with others!

And citizenship in 3 years! If you want :)

David's definitely planning to get this so he can leave the country for long periods of time if we decide to move to the UK for a few years or we take long trips around the world.

What are your guys' thoughts on getting citizenship?

I want to get my citizenship too, I believe it is the right way to go when you move to another country, as you have all civil rights.

I don't think we lose citizenship, as from I read from other users, to US you are only american citizen, but your home country will not "kick you out" because of that... I'm sorry, I don't know how to explain this properly. But from I know, US will consider you only american, though your home country will still keep your ID data and passport from there, etc. I'll ask on the regional boards next week though, you got me curious! Do the same on yours and we'll find out...

Got answers from the other brazilians: if I apply for american citizenship, I do not lose my brazilian citizenship. Probably applies for other countries, might want to double check on a thread from other people from your home country.

Welcome to VJ :) and to our long and arduous process!

I was actually just in Florence (Firenze in Italiano :)) visiting my sister who is studying abroad there and got to see the David statue. Wow...I told my David that this David was my second choice after him! ;) As cliche as it may sound, I have to admit that I absolutely loved the pasta there...though I had to learn not to get pushed off the sidewalk and get run over by the motorcycles!

So how was everyone's vacation? We just got back a couple days ago from Georgia, drove back through snowstorms again, there's a ton of snow here now. Oh well at least we were relatively warm for Christmas.

We are still waiting to send the package 3 checklist in. Kevin says he applied for his tax return transcript a few days before I got the instructions in the mail (Dec 2), it was supposed to take 2 weeks and he has still not received it. Anyone else have to deal with this kind of thing?

Do you have to send the affidavit of support in with p3? We didn't, so I'm just getting my info ready now :) If you want the transcripts, you can also have them fax them over at his work office if they have one there. It only took like 3 days to get my tax transcripts myself, but I live in D.C. so it didn't have far to go...

No we don't have to send it, but we have to send the checklist saying we have all the documents and I'm not going to lie and say we have them before we do. At any rate I'm still confused as to what exactly it is he is trying to get, he said it's not a big deal and he can print something out that works just as well, so if all goes well we will have all the documents by the end of the week. :D
