ah, well :)

You can't always get what you waaaaant :P

Any of you guys pushing back the dates for your interviews or anything so you can get to the U.S. later? We're having our wedding on September 11, 2010 (assuming we get the visa in time) and hope to have the interview February with a POE in June-ish.

We want to get the AOS done right away...but our problem is what if we get our interview date while we're on our honeymoon and then run into a whole bunch of problems with that? Grr. Sounds like you do NOT change the date unless it's an emergency. Tell that to my work! My babies are always going to be sick, lol, and I don't think the hospital will take too kindly to giving them just a few days notice when our schedule is out about two months in advance...

No pushing dates away here! Our wedding plan will be so that we don't have to worry much on the legal part: We'll marry first on justice of the peace, and ceremony with the blessings will be once my parents, my sister and her husband all have their B-2 visa to come over. That way I'll be able to already be starting my change of status and time to actually plan the ceremony with me already in the US. And to be back together as soon as possible too! As soon as I get approval at the embassy I'll travel to US. So far that was the best idea I could put together so we have both families and enough time to plan something nice.

Nah, neither of us really want to have a big fancy wedding ceremony and we aren't really close to our families. I'll be coming to the US asap after I get my visa, and we'll likely have a civil wedding during the first week if not the day after, lol.

Question about NVC: We just got the letter yesterday saying "we recently received your petition and it will be forwarded to Montreal within a week" (not those exact words but close). The EAC number is on there twice and also my case number starting with MTL. Problem is, I can't get the EAC number to work in NVC's automated phone system and I don't know which option to press to use the MTL number. It says the EAC number is not registered in their system yet. How can that be if they've already received, acknowledged and (soon) forwarded it? I wanna know what dates to put in my timeline, dangit.

Anyway no complaints about getting this letter so soon after our NOA2 when I wasn't expecting anything more until Packet 3. :)

Kevbev, from directions I read around here, we can't use the automated system at NVC, the EAC numbers won't work, you need to talk to a person on the phone (something like wait till that option, I haven't done it yet!). I am trying to find that info myself today too, if anyone know exactly please share!

yeah, call NVC, press 1, then 5.

K1 visa stay in NVC is so short that they don't enter the numbers in; other visas like CR1/IR1 stay in for a couple of months and that's why that option is there for them.

yay for you!! Are Montreal interview times still slow?

Yeah, I'm not really sure how to read the stats though. I did a search on the timeline search page and it says, average days from NOA2 to interviews at Montreal is 106. But I did my search starting from June 1 (for people who had NOA2) and only THREE of them actually have received their visas. Maybe thong can explain it since he uses that function a lot.

Ouch I'm lost on the NVC thing... I pressed 1 and then 2... that took me to a person, who said I had to wait more weeks to call... so... when can I call again and press 1 and then 5? It's like playing "Street Fighter" combos, I always do it wrong!

My NOA 2 was november 12, do I need to wait a few days or did I press totally wrong and she gave me info of another kind of case (she said there was nothing on my EAC number)?

Kevbev, of those 3 people on your search, did you see exactly when they received their NOA2s? Maybe from that you could calculate your own average time.

I'd suggest checking out the Canada forum about that; I've just read in passing that the Montreal consulate is extremely slow lately, unfortunately...

Carolina, the story is that they will say that USCIS has 90 days to get the petition to them. UGH. I was told this by them twice. Did I call them every day despite this? You bet I did! Definitely call them, just ask them nicely if they've received your petition yet. And yes, it's press 1 for English and then 5 to talk to a person. Sometimes the line is busy and you have to wait awhile in order to get to these options.

thongd4me, congrats!! Here's hoping for a speedy interview!! Isn't this great guys? Just about 3 months ago we sent in our petitions to be with our loved ones and now most of us are headed towards the consulate stage! Anyone here that's active that hasn't gotten their NOA2? BridgetandAlen, how are you guys doing??

lol I read Justine and David's signature now... "nerds in love" FTW, me and James are video game nerds! (World of Warcraft).

Agree with you on the speed! Everyone here at home got WOW!! when I said it got approved, we were all expecting to last much longer the wait! Its really awesome that things did speed up for most people! And I'll keep calling NVC, I signed up for a month of unlimited US calls on Skype and well, I got lots of minutes on it!

Kevbev, check your "Portal" button by the side of the "Forums" one up top. They will list the other members from your consulate location. That is how I found an awesome thread for my country with specific details, tips, and experiences. Maybe Canada has already one like that too?

Haha Kevin and I met on WoW too, weird how easy it is to find people online yet not IRL.

And Canada has its own forum, problem is the "waiting for Montreal interviews" thread is literally hundreds of pages long, hard to pinpoint the info I want.

I want a gnome mage and a night elf warrior on top of my wedding cake!! Would be so cool

Funny thing, when I made my tourist visa to visit James, the consulate corrected my full of accent spelling of "World of Warcraft", I bet he plays too!! He would totally understand we started hanging together after this female night elf warrior saved my female gnome mage from the arakkoa in Shadowmoon Valley, but... I kept the details off, staying over at a guy's place I met on World of Warcraft made him annoyed enough... but I got that visa, and I came back in time as I promissed, soooo... wierd story was totally worth it!

Sorry, I'm so offtopic... :ot2:

I think you could do it on paper and calculator, pick the closer to your time NOA2s with visa approvals and do the math, those charts should do. I'm bad with math, maybe you could hire Thong to help you out.

Yeah, I've been waiting for Thong to pop up and show me how my reasoning is wrong. Clicking through each case individually is just way too tedious for me since it won't change a thing in the long run. I need to spend more time actually collecting my packet 3 papers.

We both played troll hunters, lol, though my main was a tauren shaman and I was a terrible hunter, so I followed him around for months on end pestering him to get him to teach me his skills, since he was one of the best hunters around.. finally he just got used to me I guess, and we became friends.. it's a long story really. :D

I did some WoW with my ex way back when and it was pretty fun :)

I did get that sinking feeling of, "I need to study!!!" since I was in nursing school at the time.

I was a female halfling that stole things, I think...
